How does one book a mileage run?

Sorry, but I'm new to this topic. How does one book a "mileage run"? I am intrigued by the concept and the price! Please advise.

First of all, UR fortunate in that FLL is one of THE BEST places from which to originate a run... its consistantly a very competitive market

Unlike some US cities, great fares R available from FLL RIGHT now - for example cross country for roughly $148.00 plus tax.

This can harvest mega miles and/or segments - if U know how to do it.

So if, UR going to run, I recommend that U organize UR trip in the next few days to take advantage of the current sales.

Next we need to know: 1. When RU available to go? 2.What airlines R we playing with? 3. RU going 4 mileage or segments? 4.Do U want to just quickly run (ie. quick turn around)or: 4.Is there some place that you would like to go for a for a quick "get away" (and kill 2 birds with one stone)?

Fill us in and U may be amazed by the response you'll receive.

I haven't done this a lot but here's what I did for my SEA-TPA run in early December. I went to Dream Maps on Travelocity and asked for any flight under $200 leaving from SEA. I then clicked on a couple of destinations until I found a NWA flight. It happened to be $198 SEA-TPA. However, when I checked the rules on this flight, I found that I could only travel on like Tue, Wed, and Sun. Well, I was looking to do this over a Saturday night--not use up my remaining vacation days. So, I investigated further on this run and found a fare I could do over a Saturday night for $224. Since I had an NWA e-cert for $25, I got the price down to $199.

Many miles for just a little money. If I were interested in NWA miles, this would be a double mileage run because you can connect through Memphis which is a bonus route right now. Since I am flying under my AS number, I will still get bonus miles due to my Gold status with them plus more qualifying miles if I can upgrade any of the legs.

I hope this helped and addressed your question. There are many others here with way more expertise than me, and I hope they will chime in here.

See what I mean about the experts--tvl4free posted a minute before me which means we were typing at the same time!!

I use air-fare.com and check out cheap fares. You can also use Travelocity and get weird long ridiculous (for normal travel) routings. air-fare.com gives you the rules ("7 day advance, 1 day min or sat stay etc."

I'd be going from FLL to anywhere, on a Thursday to Sunday on Continental. I would probably like the west coast, but it really doesn't matter. I could manage another day or two off if it mattered.
