Any way to convert Lufthansa to Delta or vice versa ?
Hi,
I've been lurking for a few weeks now. Finally decided to take the plunge. I'm not sure if this question belongs here. Please move/delete if it doesn't.
I have 55k miles on Lufthansa, 16k on delta and 13k points on american express. I would like to consolidate them all to one ff program, preferable delta.
Any way I can do this.
Also which is the best ff program to redeem flights for India. I checked star alliance and I think it was 120k miles and Delta was some 80k miles
Thanks a lot for your help.

I had 10K LH expire on me a year or two ago. I never figured a way to get them out.
DL can convert to Hilton Points if that does you any good.
You can get a Starwood AMEX and get points there and use it to top off the DL account and maybe the LH.

If the DL-LH combination question is tied into a trip to India, consider building on the DL and Amex miles for a trip to Germany and then using the LH miles for Germany to India (which also gives you a nice stopover in Germany if you want it). Other interim stops may be possible as well by using the LH miles for an award on a *A partner.
If India is a separate question, maybe post in the India forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=478
Search LH forum for discussion on Delta, but it would surprise me for you to find a way to combine these.
Amex is running a limited-time promotion for converting MR to Delta miles (a 15% bonus I think), so check the timing on that if interested.

Thanks for the great post. That is a very nice idea. The DL-LH combination is tied into a trip to India. I will search the LH forum.
Thanks again.
