Latest update:
The low rate I found at a TA in HK was too good to be true - they are all out of those rates. Good thing I still have my Internet booking at Grand Hyatt intact.
But I'm still on the lookout for low rates at the Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua and the Ritz Carlton.

ffhound,
Many thanks for your info.
I've read up on Internet access in Lonely Planet, but it gives no detailed information. I guess the hotel would know better than guide books.
Thanks.

Peter .. those huge links have "exploded" this thread widthwise.
If he simply goes to the travel.com.au site I posted way above, then to Asia, then follows Indonesia, and "Hotel", I think these will all be accessible won't they, and board will again be readable for all?!

The links are too long
If he follows this link
http://travel-au.asiatravelmart.com/
It'll take him straight to the accommodation. He can then select the region, hotel etc
Should be cheaper from the looks of things

If you're still looking for a decent rate at the Ritz-Carlton, their ad on p. 10 of the July Conde Nast Traveler (US ed.) offers $135 per night through Oct. 15 if you pay with an American Express card. There's no code to mention or anything like that, though it has the usual "subject to availability" disclaimer.

Internet access is not a problem in the touristy areas of the south. It is a bit difficult in the northern and eastern part of the island.

Wow - you really got a bunch of great responses to this thread.
My wife and I explored Bali for about 12 days recently. Had a great time everywhere - but I've got to agree with the post that said don't discuss politics! We found a very nice place to stay in Ubud for about US $15 per night - no air but it was very clean and had a great fan. The prices are really reasonable all over the island except perhaps in the big time resort beach areas.
