Question Aruba, miles or $$$'s?

We are going to Aruba for the first time (well, other that cruise stops) on Dec 11th for a week. I have been thinking that in this very off period between TG and Xmas I will probably get such reasonable airfares that using miles (30000 USAir + $54 Tax) wouldn't be worthwhile. Any advice would be appeciated. Any estimates of fares at that time from MCO (Orlando) would also be very helpful. Thanks

I need to get to Aruba by Dec 6th & there were no FF miles on AA available until the 6th & with that I would have to spend the night in Miami. The lack of availablity is between Miami & Aruba. I am guessing many honeymooners that weekend. However, I am using the miles - flying to Curacao, then taking Dutch Caribbean Exp to Aruba. If you plan on using FF, book them now. But I do remember there were a lot of air sales to Aruba last winter.

I think you are traveling at a slow period and there will be sales. I, personally, would not spend the miles. It depends on whether you don't mind not having your flights locked in until a few months before your trip.

Worst case, you could probably wait till Nov and try Priceline or Hotwire.

My wife & I flew there in early March and it cost us 180K miles and $170 in taxes. We did fly FC and it was worth every mile and $$$. 30K does not sound like too bad a deal. I am assuming that it in coach... Have a ball we did!!!
