A List of Current Mileage Deals Creating a Buzz on Flyertalk
In the last couple of days, conversations with members suggested that it might be a good idea to list some of the better or more lucrative frequent flyer program promotions going on at any given time.
This isn’t the thread to discuss the offers … they’re already being discussed in individual program forums. It’s just a thread to make Flyertalkers aware of some of the best things on offer at the moment.
Feel free to reply to this thread with additional offers and links to be included in the main post, and perhaps give me a heads up when these offers are no longer available?
Thanks,
Gary

For it to remain useful and "sticky-worthy" I'll need help, if folks would let me know (probably best by PM) when there's something that should be included in the original post.
Thanks!

I know I will help out whenever I can, and I am sure others will, as well. I would think a one-stop shop for all the best current mileage earning opportunities will be appreciated by all.

gleff,
the hottest one I can think of not in this list that has my attention is the Bank One/First Card/United airlines double miles promo, good thru June 30th. This was unusually strong IMO for a couple of reasons:
1) started March 15th, so a loooongish 3.5 months long promo
2) unlike previous years, this one applies to ALL charges, not just targeted ones that appeal to a tiny minority such as food, gas, etc
3) though there was a threshold before double miles begins, it was, at least for me, a very low amount (something like first $150/mo didn't count double off the top of my head)
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...highlight=bank
There was an initial discussion in the United thread, then it seemed to die away. United is apparently offering a much-more restricted one, that requires purchase of a ticket as well, and this one I refer to is much more broad and less restrictive.
But I have loaded up massive United miles because of this promo. And the nearest United airport, or codeshare, is almost 150 miles away from my home, so accumulating United miles is not my typical goal. But knowing United was strong internationally gives me hope I can catch an international flight somewhere in the future, and since AA dropped the bombshell call Milesaaver, and we all know Citibank has never in their history offered a double Aadvantage mile promo of any significance, my interest in accumulating more AAdvantage miles just died a quick death. Ergo, why not take the double United miles and skip accumulating more AAdvantage miles for these 3.5 months ?

Alas, ILUVCITIBANK the offer seems to be targeted. Some folks have double miles going on all purchases above $x in a month, with x varying by person. Some folks have double miles on specific kinds of purchases. And still others like me don't have any double miles offer on the card.
Looks like you lucked out! I'd be going gangbusters with the card if they made such an offer to me. I wouldn't be on quite the same scale (but close!) I seem to recall that when the UA Visa offered double miles to everyone in Oct/Nov '02, Randy earned a million miles..

Ah - ha. The targeting may explain the lack of enthusiasm in the United thread. Before I bumped the United thread yesterday discussing this double miles promo, last posting was back in March. Since I generally avoid accumulating United, this credit card was literally unused for, well
, since the last double miles, last year sometime. My lack of useage on this card probably is what brought me into the targeting objectives if I had to guess.

gleff, I would still suggest that you post this United/Bank One double miles promo in your "sticky" posting, as a single post card was all that alerted people to this. If existing Bank One/MP affinity cardholders missed their initial alert post card, they may not know about this. To be technically correct, I did get one more postcard for the BO/MP promo a couple of weeks ago, about halfway thru the promo. Fortunately, I didn't throw away the initial alert w/ that day's junk mail.
A single call to Bank One can confirm or deny they may have been targetted.
Ditto for the simultaneous Bank One /Southwest affinity double credit promo.
Both are very attractive promotions, and anyone w/ a Bank One affinity card w/ either affinity *OUGHT* to call Bank One to see if they are targetted.
