Latin Pass - How many really went?
I would be very interested in knowing how many loyal readers of this board are actually going for the Latin Pass miles. If you have completed the run or have booked flights to qualify for the 500,000 or 1,000,000 mile promotion, please reply to this thread. I will add the numbers every week or so and post the totals as a reply in CAPITOL LETTERS, so you can scroll down the posts and find the totals. Thanks
Please input the information as follow: 500,000 miles - 3 people - 5-26 |

2 More for the Million - My wife and I are leaving 4/28 and returning 5/14. Routing from MIA down to LIM, then working our way back up north and exiting out of MGA back to MIA. Tickets all purchased and rearing to go....
COMPLETED THE RUN on 5/14 [This message has been edited by rhinochaser (edited 05-20-2000).] |
Booked to fly from Kansas to Miami to Panama, Guayaquil, Quito, Lima, Cuzco, Lima, Quito, Bogota, Caracas, Miami and Kansas for the first 500K.
Next month I'll go Kansas, Miami, Managua, Guatemala, San Salvador, Miami, etc. to finish the 1,000,000. |
This was my 500 K run. I flew Eureka, CA to Miami on a United Business class free ticket since it was the choice between an Anytime economy class or a Business class for the dates I needed. A no brainer at 40,000 miles for either option. I stayed at the Fairfield Inn (Marriott) for one hotel night. OK room with airport shuttle service for $90. Avianca from Miami to Caracas for $230 changing planes in Bogota, Colombia. Stayed the night at the Caracas Hilton on a point stretcher certificate for $10. The taxi ride was pretty **** scary since no seatbelt protection. Cost $35 for taxi each way. Caracas to San Jose, Costa Rica on Lacsa $310. SJO to El Salvador, then El Salvador to Guatemala City on Taca. Stayed at Radisson in Guatemala City for $85. $5 for taxi to/from airport. GUA to San Salvador on Aviateca, then SAL -SJO on Taca $530. San Jose - Managua on Copa $147. MGA -MIA on Lacsa (Nica) for $380. Stayed at the Fairfield Inn Miami airport a second night. The flights allowed me to travel pretty much in the daytime and not be too wiped out each night. I will be renting the car this next weekend and flying KLM in Europe in two weeks on a $125 ticket. I will be going back to Peru and Ecuador for the Aeropostal, Saeta, ACES, and Taca Peru segments in June. The airline service was exceptional on every flight. I truly enjoyed the experience.

500K 1 person. Flights (3-30/31) and hotels completed. Car hire requirement still to fulfill.
Might go for the remaining 500K in May/June |

I will be going for the million miles on May 4th-7th beginning in Mexico City and ending in Miami. I'll post my itinerary as soon as I get confirmation of my fare from the travel agent. Initial routings on American Express web and Travelocity show fares totaling $2,100.

Myself and a friend are now planning a second run for another 500,000 miles at the end of June.
|
I've booked my million mile trip from 12 May onwards
|
500,000 miles, one person, 8 May, 2000
ticketed to leave 20 May to complete the full million |
Just got back from flying 7 LP airlines on May 5 - 8. All went well except had to overnite in MIA as I arrived 30 mins. before the TACA flight to MGA. TACA said the flight was already closed and they wouldn't budge even though I had no bags. Be sure you allow enough time to check-in for all these carriers. Flew MIA-MGA-SAL-GUA. 30 min connect in SAL was no prob. Next day,
GUA-SJO-BOG-CCS. Was a bit worried in BOG as we took off on Avianca for Caracas and were informed we did not have enough fuel to reach CCS so we would fly to Medellin for fuel. So we flew 30 mins. west of Bogota to get "fuel". Why we just didn't fly back to BOG remains a mystery. Then flew CCS to MIA the next morning. Will do the remaining 3 airlines in late June. Using an AA award DFW-LIM to get Taca Peru,Aces, Saeta. Total cost will be about $2500 in Biz. classs |
One pax 1 Million run completed end of April.

Two of us completed the 1,000,000 in early April.
|
Completed all segments in a trip from Mex-MIA on May 4-7 except for a GU segment that I missed because a Lasca flight was delayed in Panama City due to bad weather. Will have to fly to GUA or SAL to finish at the end of the month.
