Mileage - Point Transfer to a Third Party
I have a close friend who would like to gift me a block of miles or points. He has plenty of Delta, Marriott and Amex miles/points but we run into a stumbling block because of different names & account numbers. Does anyone have a work-around?

clanson, have your friend transfer his AMEX miles to Delta and then request a reward ticket from DL when you know where you want to travel to. The ticket must be mailed to your friend's address, but will be issued to your name.

I am not sure about Delta, Marriott, and AmEx, though I know that with some others, if you have the same address, you are supposed to be able to transfer between accounts. I have never tried this, though I have had to change an address on an account in order to get an award ticket sent to me. It is quite simple, and can be changed back with just a minute long phone call.
