New York Hotels

I was wondering if someone can give me a recommendations on hotels in New York where I can get Miles. Price is not an issue, the more expensive the better. However, I do want to earn mileage (Air and Hotel) from this.

First question: are you a member of any of the hotel programs? They are plenty of
these hotels in NYC of various prices and
levels of Luxury from Sheraton's St. Regis
to the Westin Central Park and Hilton's
Waldorf Astoria. Sometimes as a member you
can get discount rates (the average price of
a hotel room can go around 200 dollars a nite!)

Several chains have credit cards so that can
give you even more bonus points. Also the
regular credit cards have point programs
that you can transfer into hotel accounts.

There are a lot of nice hotels around the big
Apple (even though I live across the river,
sometimes I stay in town for parties and
theater nites) Randy recommended the Royallton which you can't earn points at (unless you use like an AMEX or airline card.)

HOpe this helps... Catman

$200.00 for a Luxury hotel in New York? When were you there. l992?
Try the Westin Central Park South (the old Ritz Carlton) 500 miles in the airline program of your choice, plus Westin points as well. Hilton and Sheraton let you do the same thing as well (I think), but they are just an OK place to stay.

The Waldorf is good as well. (It's a Hilton)

MpClaw... yes, maybe I got the math wrong.
Most of my stays in NYC have been around
200 dollars or less because I save all the
sale literature from the hotels and check
their websites for sales. (I won't give prices here.) I won't pay outrageous prices
for a hotel unless it's really special (the
Ritz in Paris for example.)

The Westin central Park has several special
weekend offers and a 30 points per dollar offer celebrating the changeover. I'm staying there this saturday nite and looking
forward to it.
