UAL Website Screwy

As if it weren't enough that FlyerTalk's United forum is having technical difficulties, I just visited www.united.com and all of the links are gone! The entry fields are there, but all of the catagory links are nowhere to be seen. Hope they fix this one ASAP!

I tried to price an itinerary there earlier today and was told that my return date was earlier than my departure date. I checked. It wasn't. Tried several more times. Same thing.

Getting a busy screen on Expedia right now!!

Maybe they are putting a faster system in ! Ok lets dream because I can't take it anymore. UA, whatever you did to the website since June is a pain. I can't even download the seating charts from the reservation menu anymore unless I use a T1 line with a MacG4 or PC-P3 on the other side of the line at midnight ! Help !

Lets see, the UAL site is wacky, the UAL forum on FlyerTalk is wacky? It's a conspiracy I tell you. It's too much of a coincidence.

Hey, I just got into the regular weekly E-Fare site and it priced a advertised $239 r/t before taxes as $230 r/t including taxes. I wonder what other "specials" are floating around out there today?

I don't know about purchasing tickets, but when the US site isn't working the way it should Mileage Plus, schedules, etc are available at their UK site, www.ual.co.uk

The full flight search option works well, otherwise I get this "time sequence" error.

Havane, I hope that this is what they are doing, because I could not take it anymore either.

What kills me about the site is the new math. If I take $199 for one leg of my trip and $199 for the return leg of my trip, how come that equals a $1099 fare??? The two halfs do not add up almost all the time. Why in the world not??? At first I thought it had to do with not meeting the fare criteria but have tested it further and it makes no sense at all.

I believe it has to do with available seats. If you search around a bit (or just go to Travelocity and let the low fare finder over there find you seats and then come back to United with the details for the bonus miles) then the sum of the parts will equal the whole.

The wording is As Low As, not this is the price. I have seen it actually work in reverse, where an outbound flight was as low as $149, the inbound leg was as low as $599, but the ticket was $298.

If there are any cheap seats available, then you will get the lower rate (sometimes they are not available at UAL but are at Expedia or Tavelocity, so make sure you check there for the same flights).
