STL-ORD for cheap?
Hi all!
Let's see if anyone has any ideas on this one:
A friend of mine here in Chicago is getting married in St. Louis on Sunday, Nov 27, and at least 45 people from Chicago are planning on going. It's only a 5 1/2 hour drive -- not TOO bad -- but flying is a lot more convenient. It looks like SWA and TWA are advertising flights that day (ORD/MDW->STL around 10 AM, STL->ORD/MDW around 5/6 PM) for about $88, but I figure there might be a cheaper way. Any ideas on what that cheaper way might be?
Thanks all!

Cheaper than $88? That will be hard to beat.
I would be grabbing that fare quickly... would not expect it to last.

Please clarify the travel date AND the airfare. If you meant Sunday, November 26th, I'm not finding anything anywhere near $88 roundtrip on that route. I would also be surprised if any carrier would be offering any kind of group specials for that date. The more economical way to do this trip will likely be to charter a bus.
This discussion would probably be more properly placed in General Travel Talk.

Hi all!
1. Sorry -- the date is Sunday, Nov. 12. My typing mistake.
2. I checked stuff like Travelocity, etc. last week and saw $88. No idea what the current fares are.
3. Sorry for posting this in the wrong place! If I could move it there I would.

From my limited experience with TWA and Southwest group desks, they won't offer you anything cheaper-- and Southwest is less likely to offer you $88x45 than TWA. It seems Southwest looks at their different fares and averages things out, i.e. 10 tix at $88 plus 10 tix at $120 plus 10 tix at $150..... A bonus, though, is SW will allow free name changes until close to departure, and both airlines should give you 1 free ticket with 40 passengers.... the Southwest ticket may be free to anywhere they go.
But a chartered bus would be a lot cheaper....
And no fee for parking at the airport.
