Starwood Double dipping?!?

i stayed at a Sheraton in Chicago last month. Coz of my AmEx card, I received awesome treatment, late checkout, free suite upgrade and 50% bonus points (on my starwood a/c). So I was really happy. Today I check out my AAdvantage statement and see 500 miles credited by Starwood for a hotel stay. Where in the world did those come from?? Is Starwood double dipping points and miles for elite members or was it human error? I couldn't have got 500 miles from anywhere else coz I only stayed at a hotel once last month, and didn't fly American

If you have direct deposit, points will first go to your Starwood account, then they will be subtracted from the Starwood account and posted to your AA account.
