DELTA CROWN ROOM / 1ST CLASS LOUNGE ?
I have in my possesion a first class ticket going from JFK to LAX. I know about the first class check in. My question is with the first class ticket. Can I get comp admittance to either the JFK Crown Room or a first class lounge? Any information or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

That ticket does not necessarily entitle you to access to any such lounge, but if you paid for it, you could possibly talk your check-in agent into giving you a free pass ...

Delta bites! Crown Room members can't even use the club unless they are flying THAT day. about 2 years ago I went into a virtually empty clubroom at SeaTac and was literally ordered out by the hostess, who added that since " we have begun enforcing this, the company has saved a lot of money". I was so pissed I wrote the company and asked them to cancel my 3 year membership and refund the balance. eventually I got a reply from some VP who informed me the company had always had the policy, but was only recently enforcing it. he said they were refunding my money pro-rata, and I was lucky to get it. now THAT'S the way to handle business customers. haven't spent any of my considerable travel budget on those jerks since. too bad they didn't merge with NW. the result would have been a proctologist's delight.

I haven't had the experience you describe. I seldom try to use a Crown Room except when I'm actually flying, but I've never been asked for a ticket. I guess that means that I could use the room whenever.

philforest...you are lucky. I kept the membership for the occasional airport meeting where Delta might have the ony club. Problem seems to be the free booze. People apparently use the place as a free bar, so this is meant to limit that. the drink policy is a throwback to the 50's and 60's (tell that to Continental) when the clubs were by invite only. so the dummies alienate customers to cut back on the bar bill. they may have eased up on the policy since my experience. I wouldn't know. I'm gold on CO and chairman's pref on US. they seem to appreciate my business, so screw Delta and their non-upgradeable L fares.

Not that it belongs here necessarily, but I belong to the AA Admirals Club. I used to fly AA a lot, but recently I have been flying Delta as most of my business has been in the South East. When I have any time at the airport, (usually waiting for a Delta Connection Puddle Jumper) I slip over to the Admirals Club. The drinks are not free, but they don't ask what or when I am flying as long as I have my card. As an added bonus for me as a smoker, they usually have a smoking area.

The Delta change to charging for drinks (especially if they charge the ridiculous prices they charge in the air) in Crown Rooms may well lead to a relaxation of the "same day flight" rule - that, again, I've never seen enforced - based on the profit motive seems to be driving Delta's management these days. As opposed to developing customer loyalty.

sorry - but you don't get the e-ticket to fly here - as your identity-card is false and your name doesn't compare 100% to OUR awarded former emmett (who unfortunately didn't claim his award in due time).

Detective Lieutenant Sir Edwin Landseer howling again! Let's stick to the topic and
ignore any Emmett related references. I wonder Emmett if you've ever been in a Delta
Crown Room.
If you have... you'd know that the only people who have membership are ff-ers, rich people and cat owners. CATMAN

I am not a cat owner (two dogs, both of which chase cats for exercise) and certainly not rich. The ff is questionable. I've just finished almost two hours on the telephone with Delta establishing that my lifetime membership in Pan Am's Clipper Club was, in fact, converted to a lifetime membership in the Crown Rooms. However, my wife's membership didn't carry over. So, my best option is to continue the three-year membership (me and spouse) that I've paid for until 2001 (assuming Delta doesn't tank on Y2K) and then take the lifetime membership for me and pay $X (who knows what it'll be then) for her.
I guess the issue here is that I learned about this by accident. A Crown Room attendant at DCA told me about it and queried Atlanta about a month ago. She had not yet had an answer last week. Seems Delta should have told me when they acquired Pan Am. Another issue not yet addressed: Clipper Clubs had free drinks. Shouldn't my lifetime membership in the Clipper Club get me lifetime free drinks in the successor?
Oh, what tangled webs we weave.
