As some of you might know, MilesDirect.com is a website that tracks your frequent flyer accounts and provides a number of tools to manage them, including Award Wizard and Mileage Reconciler.

We're currently developing a new alerter tool for MilesDirect, which will allow members to trigger automatic actions based on predefined events.

For example, say Joe would like to be notified when his United account hits 25,000. Then he would define an event on MilesDirect, and as soon as our website detects his balance hit 25,000 it would carry out an "action" that Joe has chosen.

Another event might be simply a change in his mileage balance. For example, Joe would like to be notified when his miles increase or decrease. Then he would define another event for that.

I'm writing this on behalf of MilesDirect to seek some ideas on how to make this more useful. What other possible "events" can we include, besides a change in mileage and hitting a certain mark?

Secondly, what are some good ways of notifying the member? So far we have come up with 1) email reminder 2) wireless/beeper msg.

Any suggestions are welcome, whether good or bad. We are developing this tool based on requests from a few of our members, so I would love to hear if this sounds like a helpful utility for the majority of you. Thanks for your time,
