LH today (aug-28-00) announced that starting from sep-1-2000 all Frequent Travellers and Senators get a supplementary 25% bonus on all StarAlliance carriers counting as status miles too!

So from sep-1 LH 'status-fliers' earn on all StarAlliance-carriers (some carriers will not earn minimum miles):[*]paid eco 125% status miles, minimum 1'250[*]paid business 250% status miles, minimum 2'500[*]paid first 375% status miles, minimum 3'750

the first class bonus counting as status is outstanding on inner-NorthAmerican UA flights owith 2-classes only, where a paid business ticket 'gives' paid first mileage- and status-mileage.value. A Shuttle flight (booked as a free continuation of a transatlantic paid business class ticket pays (thank's to LH's minimum rule) 3'750 status miles (even if the real flight mileage is well beyond 500 miles).

this news looks more like an increasement of the overall differences (compared to UA's status miles policy so far).

One could assume that LH is leading the pack, as they often did within the last months. This could well be a lead to "one * scheme" rewarding the high paying customers the most. It is quite clear, that UA won't be able to give awards in the near future, if they are awarding each and everyone with more and more miles. This could be a lead for other * members with a less rewarding FFP as well.

Rudi - Very generous policy.

Please talk to your friend Mr Fuchs at UA Europe and appraise him of this!

Do LH "pay" you the 125% even on "stingy" * carriers" like Thai in economy?

LH doesn't discrminate any * carrier - like others do. The rules quite clearly say:
Any *A carrier. So fly SQ in first from HKG to SFO and you'll earn 25.923 status miles with M&M oneway. All bonuses accrued with MP this gets you just 6.913 status plus 3.456 F class bonus. This was it ...
Should rethink your mileage run to DUS methinks

Is LH really giving bonuses on top of bonuses (multiplier rather than additive effect?). When AC gives these types of bonuses, the extra bonus is always based on the base miles, ie 300 plus 25 = 325% for F class in LH's case? If this is true and they count for status too, you could really get to Senator status again quickly.

Based on their press release from today the bonus will be on top of all miles accrued. There is an example for FRA - NYC in biz.
"an M&M customer with status will get 19,254 miles instead of 15,404 as it is now" the 3,851 miles exactly being 25 % ... and the 15,404 miles being FRA-NYC incl. biz bonus.(3851 x 2 + 100 %).

OK - I clicked on most of the links in this thread, and do not seem to find any concrete information. Most of the links just say "There is going to be something happening sometime".

Is there any concrete information on the new plans?
