UNITED and volunteering
I've discovered that United rewards people who volunteer with a $25 off certificate, even if they don't need you, which they usually don't. But, you must ASK for the $25 "thank you for volunteering" coupon.

Thanks for the information. I once received the certificate even though I did not ask for it. This reduces the fare by $25 and the taxes are then lower too, so the savings are slightly more than $25.

Is the $25 discount coupon good on any fare or does it have restrictions such as minimum ticket price or class of service?

I used mine on a coach sale fare (cheap ticket, Sat night stay, 21 day advance).
