LAX - ANC on DL - Under $200!
Hello all. I am a long time reader, first time poster. I found (and booked) a great deal on travelocity today. Just as the name of the subject implies, head to the best fare finder and it'll pop right up! I've always wanted to see Alaska and now the wife and I will head up there for a long weekend.

Great mileage run fare. However no one else seems to be matching it. Now if UA does decide to match...

Yes--I am being a pest, but after I saw the apparently deleted fare for $200-LAX to anchorage--and was not quick enough on the draw---I explored alaska(anchorage) on the web and really got the (excuse me) hots to get there.I want to take my family of 3(1 13 yo)I am on a quest to collect every friggin mile I can.Just signed on to Compubank and the multitude of sites to advise me and assist in building those points. Now I am not a frequent flier--1-3 trips a year.I never bothered with the points or miles before,am not poor and could pay the higher fare if I saved really well, but this is fun.I want to see if I can not buy anything unless it is associated with a free mile.I have 2 grocery stores in my city--1 assoc with america west and the other with United. So I can double dip there with the store giving me miles and paying with compubank visa debit.Ok--sorry just rambling.---MY ? is --Has anyone seen a fare from lax to alaska close to the $200 figure w/o it being a very last minute deal?Since I saw that fare with my own eyes,it is the principal of the whole fiasco--even if it was a typo error by travelocity or delta.I really want to find a fare close to that --mid october or early March when son is out for a week.Possible??I will not have miles built up for a while, anyways. The cheapest I found at many sites--expedia--lowestfare.com--travelocity was $380.What do you kind experts think?I am about as novice as you can get--but having a blast with this new quest. Thanks Terri in Phx

.Boards such as FT wouldn't exist if it weren't for people who love to travel and enjoy trying to squeeze every last mile out of the system we can. That is why many FT'rs spend so much time trying to find an insane route from SEA-JFK (via SFO-LAX-SLC-DFW-ORD-FLL-RDU-STL-IAD) for no reason other than the quest for miles and segments, and go above and beyond the call of duty eating Healthy Choice and Kellogs, not because they love the stuff, but b/c the chase of miles is just such a crazy fun thing to do. JMHO.
Welcome aboard and join the fun. I hope you get to Alaska b/c its a beautiful place to see.
