Missed fare sale

Up until a few days ago, the major airlines were having a pretty good coast-to-coast fare sale...most major carriers had a published fare between MCO-SEA for $198 when traveling in September...but alas, when I checked today the lowest fare had increased to about $350 :-(. Anyone know if these fares will be returning? Seems like Southwest originally started these fares, and the other carriers mathched the prices, but I guess the promotion has ended. Any other good coast-to-coast deals on the way?

Yes, you're out of luck if you didn't buy. My guess is another fare sale will come along in middle to late September, for travel up to mid-December or so. But that's just a guess. There could be another one this week, or none for the rest of the year. But since loads drop off in the later months of the year, I think we can expect one by the end of September.

Until then, check on www.bestfares.com on the News Desk for "Snooze You Lose" fares. While Best Fares doesn't do as good of a job as it used to, you still can find good info there. Also, use the Fare Watcher feature at www.travelocity.com, and you also can get good info at www.air-fare.com. Just check frequently, maybe daily, in case there's a temporary drop in price.

A quick look on Travelocity shows SEA-MCO at $265 RT on TWA with 7 days advance purchase, and travel through Dec. 14. In all likelihood, MCO-SEA won't go back to $198 until after Labor Day-- I'd say the 2nd week of Sept. at the earliest. So if you have to travel in Aug. or Sept. you might do best taking this-- but for Oct. or later, you can probably gamble on the next sale.
