$20K Limo Drive Trip

A man in Orange County, CA hired a limo driver to drive him to his house in ....Portland, OR. The customer slept most of the way according to the driver. The customer asked for the credit card slip upon arrival at home with a $2200 bill upon it so for a tip, he added another $20,000 for the driver. The CC company accepted the charge and the driver was seen driving away with a smile.

Shadow...now don't tell me that was you who was missing home so much!

It's about time someone appreciates the importance of good service! Or perhaps the client was just a little short of miles and needed to top off a couple of his frequent flyer accounts???

Let's see, all the components in my own backyard: Orange County, client, chauffeur, limousine, $20,000--so near, yet so far away.

That beats the best tip I've ever received by $19,800. I guess I'll just have to try harder.

Gee, and I'd actually thought that $20 was a good tip!

I understand all of this except one thing: how could the guy pass up the FF miles?

The driver was interviewed on a local radio chat show yesterday. He was remarkably low key about the whole thing, and said that although he hadn't seen the $20K (minus taxes) yet; if it comes it comes, if not...

BTW, this thread probably should've gone in OMNI. The Buzz is for the latest news on FF programs. Just a gentle reminder, guys, so please no flames.

I wonder if this will turn out to be like the situation of that waitress in Chicago who was left a $10k tip by some British supposed businessman?

According to the driver, the credit card charge already went through. He said he'd see the tip reflected on his next paycheck.
