Transferring at SYD

Hope to get this answered before leaving Tuesdy evening.

I'll be arriving at SYD on CP from YYZ and then transferring to AN for a domestic flight. How do I transfer from the int'l terminal to domestic terminal. I heard something called seamless transfer thing??

Its a pain. You have to collect your luggage, go through customs, then take your luggage to another part of the terminal where you recheck it. They then put you on a shuttle bus for the AN terminal. When I went through last October the area between customs and the recheck/shuttle bus was a zoo. Nothing seamless about it.

I'm afraid I have to concur with CG, although I was transferring from United to Qantas, not from CP to AN. Customs line was very long and extremely slow. Recheck (as an AAddvantage Gold) wasn't that bad, but regular line was quite long as well.

Customs at Sydney is a crap-shoot : some days you can breeze through, other days they just seem to have everybodies number and it takes forever.

You may want to get your gate agent to call ahead to AN to let them know you have arrived (sort of like confirming your flight - since you are changing airlines you should probably do this manually).

Enjoy your time down-under : it's winter, though !!
