Comp Upgrade strategy?
I know this might have been discussed couple time before...
This is my current situation:
I'll be flying YYZ - SYD flight on CP in J next Tue and then follow by SYD - PER in Y on AN.
I have no status at all with AN and CP Executive Platinum. AN is a newly partner of CP.
Does anyone have any suggestion how I might have a chance of getting an upgrade on the AN portion?
Thanks

I never have any luck with AN and am a Star * Gold. AN seem to not care. LOTS of praying is my suggestion alas!
HOWEVER .. do you really mean you are booked full "Y" class (about $1000 SYD-PER) or discount coach like "L"? AN will upgrade you pretty readily on full Y if few booked J seats.

just ask nicely at the gate how much if anything's open in 1st class...and how much it would cost to upgrade.
i read recently in usa today about a guy who is routinely just bumped up for free when he asks nicely what the cost is. and is dressed well.
sometimes you get things for free when it looks like you don't need them.

"V" is pretty much low down the list. No 1st in OZ domestic anyway. Good luck is the key .. never hurts to ask I suppose!
