Looking through my stuff, I find I have an application for a Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card. It has a slightly different offer:

- 15,000 miles after your first charge on the card, of which 5,000 count toward elite status in Delta's frequent flyer program (if you already have a SkyMiles Classic, the bonus is 10,000 miles and if you already have a SkyMiles Gold the bonus is 5,000 miles, but in either case 5,000 miles count toward elite status); (Sure beats a year-end mileage run for 5,000 miles )

- 10,000 bonus miles if you charge $25,000 in a year;

- a free companion ticket after yearly renewal;

- for an annual fee of $135 ($80 if you have a qualified American Express card).

If anyone is interested, e-mail me your snail-mail address and I'll send the application (first come, first served). Alternatively, you may be able to have one sent to you by calling 1-800-430-1000.
It's actually 10,000 BASE miles, not bonus miles for spending $25K/YR. Might make a difference to those who qualify for elite levels based on miles.

Thanks,Rnmcd

The GM Card used to be much better. The Gold card capped at $1000 rebate per year for maximum $7000 and offered double rebate earnings for Hertz and Marriott. Even gave rebates for cash advance checks. GM got wise and changed it about the same time Ford dropped their rebate program. Although 5% is better than 2% airline programs is better than 1% cash rebate, it's was worth it only if you wanted a GM car with $3500 off. Rebate available was in moving window. You lost 1st year earned if you didn't cash out in last year of earnings. Don't know what the current rules are...I hear they are expanding offerings.

I looked again, and you're absolutely right, outoftown. I'll change the original posting so that it is accurate. Good catch!
