Advice on upgrade CVG-NGO
I'm part of a tour group flying to Japan in October. The group has a block of 30 seats that are in F class (not FC). I'm GM and my wife SM and I may be PM by that time. How can I prepare to get upgraded to BE round trip for both of us once tickets are made available to each passenger in the group? We both have numerous 800 mile segments which I don't think can be used international. We also have several system wide certificates which can be used for Y B or M class. One ticket agent told me by phone that I could upgrade the F class to M class for an additional $100 perticket and then use the certificates for full upgrade if seats were available. We're flying Delta. Any ideas?

Your 800 mile segment upgrades are only good in 50 US states, Bermuda, Canada, Caribbean and Mexico. Delta issues two complimentary one-way one-class system upgrades for every 20,000 base miles that you fly. If you travel within North America, they're good on anything but L class. For all other travel, this upgrade is valid on all published fares booked in Y, B, or M class. This is from the Delta PM guide published 9/99. Your best bet would be to do both transactions at the same time with the same agent; F pay difference to get M, system upgrade to BE, or forget the whole thing if there are no BE upgrades available.
