Hello, I'm a Marine's Mom I'm a member of an email group for Marine Moms we are looking for away to get a deal for our decicated service men and women to get a real discount on air travel. The military discount is usually much higher than if you just shop around. These boys and girls are hard at work protecting us everyday and when they do get to come home it usually is at the last moment with not much time to take advantage of deals. Does any one have any ideas? Thanks so much in advance.

Hey, Kitsing, Welcome:
I'm a former Marine's father and a current sailor's grandfather, and I sure share your sentiments. I don't know if there are any "programs" that will help. However, I'm sure that if you stick around here, somebody will come up with something.

the will e-mail you the net-saaver web fares for all the airlines involving YOUR city. that way if an opportunity comes along you see if the two cities involved are available. There's pricematcher through www.expedia.com and priceline where you bid for tickets, but you have to take what they give you and if you don't have a lot of time you could get Sat night, to Sun morning, rather than Sat morning until Sun night.

Rudi:
I thought the Swiss Navy was the only Navy in the world that had never lost a battle.

Aren't marines stationed at the US embassy? or is that not considered Switzerland.

Anyway welcome Kitsing, When my son was in the army I used miles to get him last minute tickets occasionally, avoided standby.

RUDI, From recent revalations about what the Swiss gov't did during and after WW2, you people sure have a different meaning for the word "NEUTRALITY" than I ever saw in any English dictionary, but then maybe a Swiss dictionary has a completely different description.

We're going completely OMNI here, but craz, I'm curious as to specifically which revelations you're referring to. While the Swiss weren't exactly saints during the time period (nor were the Allies for that matter!!) a lot of what has been reported in the (U.S.) media has blown out of proportion the things that happened.

But perhaps we should move political discussions to a separate OMNI thread....

bokich, I said my part its a disscussion with NO end.As for the Allies they were in WAR not saying anything was justified. Remember- ONE MANS FREEDOM FIGHTER IS ANOTHER MANS TERRORIST. It all depends which side one is viewing from. The Swiss claim was they will do nothing and did nothing in order to aid either side which was indeed NOT the case. You or anyone is free to reply but I will try to limit anything further simply to e-mails on the subject and not to posting on this thread or any other thread in regard to this matter.

Not gonna argue - it's probably best to take something like this off-line.

See if www.itn.net still has the fare monitor. It will e-mail you with the lowest fare found for a city pair every week. When I was in the Army, LH treated us much better in terms of fares and service than any of the US based carriers.
