Jim,
If you get this before you leave, I recommend that you check out the Pacific Coast side of Costa Rica, in particular, Manuel Antonio.

Well, I am back!

Costa Rica was very nice. Ricechex -- we were on the Pacific side at Playa Conchal.

American flight was good --- upgraded to first/business class. Flight back from Miami was delayed -- but waiting in the Admiral's club made it bareable.

Costa Rica Marriott was beautiful -- if you are in the country -- it is worth the stay/visit.

Sol Melia -- was not impressed -- the marriott was much nicer. The Melia Playa Concahl was nice -- but everywhere you truned they were asking for your room number to charge you for something --I would not stay there again.

Dollar -- that was interesting. I called them Friday night (about 8 hours befre I was leaving) to confirm the car and to see if the upgrade cert. I had would be accepted. They informed me that my car was reserved but in San Jose Mexico -- Dollar was good though and got me a a car -- but from Hertz (Dollar was out). I was quoted $249/wk unlimited milage for an automatic car. When we got there -- all they had was a standard/manual car -- They woulld not let me decline any insurance coverage (I use Diners and can decline CDW and my firm's plan allows me to decline the rest) --Cant wait to see/hear Hertz's response to my complaint about that.
