Info on mypoints?
Hey all, I've seen quite a bit of discussion in these parts about mypoints.com. So I went to check out the site, and there really isn't a lot of information about the nuts and bolts of the program. So I figure some of you out there can help.
1. How do you earn points?
2. How many do you get?
3. Can these be exchanged for FF miles? If so, then for which programs and how many do you get?
4. Is there a limit to the number of these points that one can earn?
5. Overall, is it worthwhile?

Wow - big questions you ask !!
1. You earn points by visiting websites, trying out offers, and purchasing good through their portal.
2. A whole bunch - many regulars have got over 20,000 miles in the last year.
3. Yes - I use Alaska, but you can also spend them at Hilton, Hyatt and Mariott - American Airlines for a while.
4. Probably - but I don't know of it.
5. This is your most contentious question - MyPoints has it fans and then there are those who have had nothing but frustration. MyPoints customer service can be both great and atrocious. Lots of FlyerTalk commentary about this one !!
Hope that helps !!

Hi
Mypoints used to be a great scheme for earning points ( I accrued 20,000 in six months).
I say used to for a reason.
The carrot was that you could redeem 20,000 points for 25,000 American Aadvantage miles. Unfortunately this redemption award has been discontinued as of the end of April.

You can still redeem points for Alaska airlines miles or Hilton Honours points but there is not much value in the exchange rates.
I won't be accruing any more points until such time as a new miles partner is found for which I can exchange points for miles on a 1 - 1 basis. Otherwise IMHO it's just not worth it.
I still thankful for the miles I was able to accrue however. Mypoints is still a great way to get free points - it's just that the award end of the scheme has become lesss attractive.
cheers Peter
