new oneworld promotion
In case you missed it, I got this off Webflyer's Notiflyer section:
Oneworld Jackpot
Bereft of Canadian Airlines but with newcomers, Aer Lingus and LanChile, coming on board, oneworld has launched a continent promotion. Fly to six continents with oneworld airlines between June 1 and Aug. 31 to earn 100,000 miles.
Members should fly to at least three continents to earn 5,000 miles, four for 15,000 miles, five for 50,000 and six for the 100,000 jackpot. It is the continent that you arrive in that counts, not the continent you depart from. Each continent can only be counted as one. To avoid any confusion, the continents are as follows: Europe and the Middle East; Africa including Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia; Asia including the Indian subcontinent; Australia and the South Pacific including New Zealand and Papua New Guinea; North America including Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean and Mexico and finally Central and South America.
Members can only qualify once for this promotion and the miles will be credited on Nov. 30

Let's get after it then. This really makes me want to change my RTW to 6 continents. I looked around the 1W website but couldn't find any mention of it.

Significantly more difficult than the last OW bonus, but still doable, at least the 50K...What are the eligible dates?
Also, you state the members are only eligible once for the promotion. Is this once for each FF program. Can I get 100K with AA, 100K with BA, etc.? Some short internal continent flihts could rack this up? Seeing as I am going to Australia (through Hong Kong), South America and Europe, five will be easy (as US resident). Perhaps a quick stop off in Casablanca?

The big question is what is meant by "to a continent". Is it just arrive at a city in a continent which would be easy, or is it arrive in a city in a continent from a city in another continent.
Also of note is that the definition of the continents is different from the Explorer Fare. Morrocco, Egypt, etc. are part of Europe for the RTW fare, but part of Africa for the promotion.
Also Central America is grouped with South America for the promotion, but is part of North America for the RTW fare.

Why don't they call it the "Around the World in 80 Days" promotion. And I was just telling someone there are never great incentives for summer travel. I've just been contemplating possibilities while waiting to see the official details.
1. Fly Miami-Caracas on AA $300 RT
(while completing LatinPass of course)for N.America-S.America.
2.Fly business class on BA from US to Malaga, Spain on a free ticket for 80,000 miles.
3. $200 for RT Malaga-Casablanca, Morocco for Europe and Africa continents.
4. UK-Bangkok free ticket business class for 105,000 miles on British Air.
5. Bangkok - Sydney, Australia on Qantas for about $800 RT for Asia and Australia.
$1,300 in airfare and 85,000 miles (after the 100,000 mile 6 continent bonus) for a trip around the world. Despite the pay, there are advantages to being a teacher with eight weeks off of work between June and August. (And then there are the KLM possibilities with LatinPass miles)

There is also a thread started in the Oneworld forum.

Wouldn't it be better suited to continue there? At least this is not the usual "conga" rubbish.

I'm planning on doing a summer RTW this year, but it hasn't been booked yet.
What an incentive to go with oneworld!
If I revise my planned routing to include Austrailia, I should have no problem doing this at all.
