Live chat?

When's the live chat area going to be ready? I really would like to see it ASAP. It'll be great if we could all get to chat on top of posting all the messages.

Maybe we can start a FT chatroom somewhere?

I hope that the chat room doesn't "steal" some of the content from the existing bulleting board.

Oh yes, The "live" chat.. Could be interesting. As one and sure most of you (I may be wrong) who has participated on a "chat" before.. It is always interesting when certain "creatures" decide to crawl from under there rocks and decide to "join in".. Mostly just an annoyance.Teenagers etc.. or wanabee chat administrators.. You can get more personal too on chat. NOW that is always interesting. Over 21 PLEASE. Or 18? Hmmmm

I nominate CATMAN as the "moderator" to keep things on topic.. As opposed to hearing about Betty Los sex life(no offense Betty Los BUT it's very boring) LOL

Regards,

Mike Mahoney

Well, the good news is that it's real soon. We have finally chosen a chat platform that's friendly to Macs and to all the current browsers of any type, something that was actually hard to do. We looked and loaded over a dozen of them. We'll probably start on a small beta test within a week and launch shortly after that. Our plans are to have available 24/7 a few chat rooms for use, such as TheBuzz and Omni. The hope here is that some of the idle posts that occasion FlyerTalk are here, so as to keep the overall quality of FT on the high end. Also, on a monthly basis, we'll have two live chat sessions where I will host them. We will give away miles to those that attend these chats. We'll do two on the same night so that we can catch both coasts at a reasonal hour. In addition, we will have a private chat area for those that have acheived "member" status. We certainly are looking for ideas that work for the community, but this is what we have planned for now......get ready.

I was hoping to find out if this is still on track for launching soon. There have been evenings recently when I was dying to have someone intelligent with whom I could chat while I'm surfing! Each time I've held my breath while clicking on that "Live Chat" tab, hoping that I would get a message other than the one I have, by now, memorized.

Any update? Thanks.

Good luck with the live chat, Randy.

As for moderators, I think we should leave it to the folks at Webflyer to decide. They probably know best how to moderate the boards.

I guess in an election year even I can be nominated for something. Thanks for doing that Mike but next time if you are going to "draft" me for anything e-mail me first so I can discuss it with my "family."

It's ONEWORLD

(Since it is a trademark I"m adding TM: American AIrlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, the late Canadian, Quantas and that U-S Airways airline that GEO1004 flies)
