CO - HH miles transfer: 3 month wait!

In January I arranged a transfer of 35,000 CO miles to 70,000 Hilton Honors points. When I asked how long it would take, CO told me to allow 90 days! CO debited my One Pass account the same day.

Well, almost three months later there was still no credit to my HH account, so I called up Continental to ask about my mileage transfer. At first they said I needed to wait the full 90 days (from 9 January!) and, if the points had still not been transferred then call Hilton Honors.

When I said that other frequent flyers from other airlines had had quicker transfers, they offered to call CO in the States to see what had happened.

I got a call back later that day to say that Dallas (I think) would do a manual transfer, and that the mileage would be in my HH account within 24 hours! Why didn't they do that in the first place?

The 35,000 miles that left my CO account on 9th January have suddenly materialised overnight in my HH account.

If CO can do overnight transfers when you phone up to complain, why do they expect you to wait "the full 90 days" for a "normal" transfer? What if I needed to claim a reward within that time?

I am not very impressed.

Have had the same problem...transferred points from CO to HH in early Jan 00 - but they still havn't shown up in my HH account.
(Interestingly, TWA transfers show up virtually over nite.)

I think that this is another way of restricting the use of points by the business traveler...Hilton and CO want the biz traveler to BUY ROOMS - rather than use an award on spur of the moment!

By the way, good luck in using your freebies - especially if trying to use point stretchers. Last year, I tried and tried to use them - with always the same response from Hilton reservations, "Not available."
After a year - and at least and four or five dozen phone calls, the certificate eventually expired. Hilton did redeposit to my account.

So much for the crew who voted for Hilton as
best program....

I posted the following on Jan. 11th:

I transferred miles from CO to HH for a PTS5 award to the PIP. I made the call Oct. 16th; as of yesterday the points still had not been transferred.

Called OP desk & finally got a supervisor who claims it normally takes at least 60 days to
complete. I said it's almost 90 days now and she promised me the points would be in my HH acount by the weekend. (they were)

BTW, the TWA points I transferred for the same award posted in less than 10 days.
As to Hilton, my experience has been better than yours, tvl4free. The PTS5 award for the PiP (Hilton Hawaiian Village), was only booked 3 weeks before the trip (and HH let me go into the minus until all the miles cleared). As a Gold I got upgraded to a corner mini suite on the 34th floor of the Tapa Tower.
