Miles insurance for Latinpass?

Hi all

i'm sure you're all eagerly planning your Latinpass mileage runs but are concerned about whether Latinpass will be around for a while or not.

I seem to recall That Webflyer had a product whereby you could (for a fee) take out a form of Insurance on your miles. I don't recall the exact name of this insurance or its precise details but it seems to me that people thinking of doing the Mileage run would be well advised to use a product like this.

I could not find the product on the website however.

Does this mileage insurance still exist and what are the rules surrounding it? What does it cost? Would it be of use to Latinpass memebers?

Thanking you

Peter

Well

This looks like a great business opportunity for Randy to increase the coverage of the program to Latinpass and get a whole lot more people signing up.

cheers peter

I could easily add them in on coverage with approval from the London insuror but would worry about being labeled an opportunist. But, it's a good idea nonetheless. However, I personally don't see any problems with the future of LatinPass. Yes the program continues to evolve and while I think it a good idea if they were to expand beyond the borders of Latin American, etc. I'm not personally worried about the miles I've earned with them, even if I had a million of them. I'm somewhat jealous that I've got to stay here an monitor the board while you guys/gals get to fly all over the Southern parts of this hemisphere seeking miles more valuable than gold. Oh well......

While you worry, Randy, about possibly being labelled an opportunist, the underwriters might well also be worrying- about possibly going bust! Lots and lots of claims!

To say that "the program continues to evolve" is putting it somewhat eupemistically, IMHO!

Remember, not all are going on a Million Mile or even 500 mile quest- seems many were suddenly and very sadly shut out by among other changes and a suddenly dysfunctional website!

Reminds me a bit of topics on the local TV troubleshooter "Shame on you!"

A question regarding insurance not on the miles earned but for the flights. I saw in another thread that some person(s) suggested to buy travel ins in case theres a problem with one of the carriers no longer flying and yet you already purchased your tkt (where you may already be on the tour or you havent left yet) I don't remember where it was that I read that post, I thought that if one purchased the tkts with their credit-card that you would be covered for something like that?(I remember when the orginal PanAm went under I was holding a few tkts and the credit card I used simply removed the charges, also there was a tkt from PN that I wasn't to account for on my bill and that too was removed with notice if they should get proff the charge would be reinstituted till I prove differently it never reappeared).
