The Ol Tom will be off FLyerTalk starting
Late thursday through mid-day Sunday (10-22 thru 10-25.) Going to the home of the "nice
try" Padres for business.

Good Luck to OneFreeMan who is getting married that weekend in SD. A nice weekend
to do it!!! (he says he will keep his FlyerTalk name after marriage!)

The Cats absense means Rudi can pull ahead and some of you guys can make a run at my
crown! Good Luck, but my cats know Windows
very well!

I will just miss the great World Series faceoff... which I think will be over very
soon. I will miss all the hoopla when the
Yankees win the World Series and a lot of
people call out sick to work. (I'm already
confirmed for San Diego so they can't bother
me to work.)

If anyone asks... I'll say I'm from Jersey
City. Nobody knows where that is!

May have a Vegas trip in my future... once
I get some spare cash I'm ready!!! CATMAN

Hey CatGuy, Maybe the World Serious will not end and you can catch an early flight and go to the Thursday game. Anyway, if it does then San Diego is the place to be: Home of Ricechex and the best weather the
US. Asta la vista CatGuy and vios con dios!

Bon voyage Catman and see you at the wedding!

I too will be off-line -- but will attempt upon my return to come close to the great trip reports I've read here on FlyerTalk.

And so it ends, off to SAN, HNL, OGG, and LIH... Talk to you again after Nov 8th!

I will greet your very helpful police people
in S.D. Rudi. I also think they will be busy
helping console the Padres fans (Have NOT
checked the score, it's 1:45 NY time here
10-21.)

My hosts for my latest trip e-mail me and say
"OH, we're so sorry you won't have time to
try our great golf courses."

Of course first I would have to learn how
to swing a four iron. CATMAN

Have a safe trip Catman and OneFreeMan. I'll be joining you in the friendly skies as I head off to Hong Kong and Bali on Saturday morning, and I'm leaving my laptop behind. Could be kinda quiet around here without us trouble makers.

Hey PremEx, Rudi and ol' jaws are still here
and we can get out of control. And, Catman,
the 4 iron is the least of your worries, to paraphrase Lee Trevino, "Only the 'Big Guy in the Sky' and lightning can hit a 4 iron".

Catman visiting SAN after they lost the World Series reminds me of a flight I took last year.

Detroit had just beaten Philadelphia for the Stanley Cup in hockey. I flew from SEA to DTW on the red-eye with a connecting flight to PHL. I was on the very first flight in the morning after the championship game from the previous night that was heading to PHL. Geez, you never saw such a somber and depressed group of flyers! On the other side of the coin, it was the only time I had ever been in that hell-hole of an airport where everyone seemed cheerful....

I've been on three flights after big college
pro ball games flying back on New Year's Day
and it was so quiet you can hear me humming
to myself.

IT could also be that many of them decided
to celebrate my Birthday (New Year's Eve)
and wanted to rest after all that partying!

Another advantage... every year I've flown
on New Year's Day... automatic upgrades on UA
to First. I guess everyone's too "tired" to
fight for them. CATMAN
