AA gift certificates from Freeride
I noticed that AA gift certificates are available at Freeride. $25 cert for 2675 pts and a $50 cert for 5350 pts. However, it stated that "Redemption limited to one certificate per passenger per ticket", which makes these much less desirable (as a comparison the Marriott gift certs from Freeride can be combined). I wonder if one could combine the certificate with a coupon.

Keith- With all due respect, I'm not sure it was covered. Perhaps the first sentence was, but that's kind of an intro to PG's question-
"However, it stated that "Redemption limited to one certificate per passenger per ticket", which makes these much less desirable (as a comparison the Marriott gift certs from Freeride can be combined). I wonder if one could combine the certificate with a coupon."
I too had previously posted the new Freeride AA certs, but had actually missed this potential "problem." PG is a bit more perceptive than I.

Yeah, it sucks when someone blasts in and refers one to another thread when one is looking for some information or assistance ;-)

I don't want to give out incorrect info, so I'll have to say that I'm not sure about this particular GC, but in general AA CTO's are pretty lenient about combining "bumping" and refund vouchers with coupons and discounts (I've used both kinds of vouchers with the Entertainment coupons in the past). Perhaps a phone call to AA promos (1-800-433-1790) may clear up any doubt.

In retrospect I should have responded to an existing thread. But I did mean to emphasize not that the certificates are available, but rather the restrictions on them.

The CTO's may be lenient because this is specifically allowed. Unfortunately, when you combine vouchers with coupons, AA's computers don't know how to handle that, and so the agents have to do everything manually, including deducting the tax. (They call this "phase 4") The agents at the airports often don't know how to do this, and so they tell people that those things can't be combined, but the agents at the CTO know exactly what needs to be done. If you must do your ticketing at the airport and you don't want to wait for over an hour for someone to figure it out, call ahead of time and explain what you have, and ask them to do the phase 4 calculation. Then your airport agent can issue the ticket in less than 5 minutes.
