eMiles Shutting Down

Just received this email... not cool that they only gave one week notice then again they could have just turned off the lights and left in the middle of the night.

Dear Member,

We wanted to reach-out with an important update about the eMiles program and your membership.

We greatly appreciate your support and participation in eMiles, as well as the millions of other members over the years, but sadly we need to communicate that the eMiles program will soon be coming to a close.

We will provide additional updates along the way, but wanted to inform you of a couple of key dates in advance:
  • Effective June 15, 2018, eMiles Redemptions will close, so please be sure to log-in and redeem, as unredeemed points will expire on June 29, 2018
  • After June 15, 2018, you will continue to be able to log-in to eMiles, view your account history, claim previously-redeemed rewards, and communicate with [email protected]
We’ll be sure to send additional reminders, so you don’t forget to redeem your points, but please visit our FAQ if you have any questions.

Thank you for a being an integral part of our community.
- Your friends at eMiles

It was mentioned sometime back in the master E-miles thread that they where shutting down. I had 403 points and couldn't find anything to redeem them, only available where minimum of 500 for UA miles. I did a few surveys and in less than 30 minutes I had 517, immediately cashed them in and now I'm left with 17 E-Miles, which will eventually transfer to E-rewards.

The emiles website had all earning opportunities removed awhile ago, right after they announced the shut down.

Today's email was identical to the previous one they sent out, about a month ago.

mahasamatman Jun 7, 2018 7:33 pm

No great loss. It's been going downhill for years.

Does it say somewhere that the remaining miles will be transferred to E-rewards? I didn't see this...

Ismilee Jun 9, 2018 3:53 am

Never mind...I just found it in the FAQ, although these two accounts aren't connected that I'm aware of. Will they just link them by email address? Thanks, if anyone knows the answer!

Sounds like it. The email I got goes on to say:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As an existing member of the e-Rewards Opinion Panel (our sister company), any eMiles Points that you have not redeemed by June 15, 2018 will be loaded into your e-Rewards account (associated with this e-mail address) on or before June 29, 2018, in the amount of $0.05 in e-Rewards Currency, for each remaining eMiles Point.

Unable to login, reset password still cannot login.

MD/DC Flyer Jun 11, 2018 1:58 pm

The redemption I've made for Amazon gift card had not been fullfiled and the help line does not respond.

Might be safer just to let the points to transfer to e-rewards.

kevindavis338 Jun 11, 2018 6:31 pm

Not surprised. Wasn't too impressed with them.

pinniped Jun 12, 2018 9:28 pm

Useless program. Good riddance.

Tino Jun 14, 2018 7:12 am

Oh well

I stopped using the both of them years ago after e-rewards would waste my time repeatedly. After answering several hundred questions over 30 minutes, in the final demographic questions I would answer "caucasian" or "male" and the survey bot would respond, "We have already met enough responses from your demographic group, so no points for you."

It's probably better that I found better uses for my time than making 25 cents an hour filling out surveys.

sohony Jun 14, 2018 8:20 am

i just went to the emiles.com.
was easily able to log in and transfer my remaining points to amazon gc's
will see whether they actually arrive or not!

aspidites Jun 14, 2018 9:05 am

I learned a long time ago to always respond hispanic female - now I rarely get kicked out of surveys. Caucasian males are of no import to marketers anymore.

I second that. Another good way to not get kick out is agreeing to practically everything they ask, you have kids, you are planning on buying a car, you do all the shopping/financial/phone/insurance/etc decision in your household.

Can someone answer how long it takes to get the Amazon gc? I requested on 6/7 and says 5 days, but nothing yet. I requested Starbucks gc at the same time, and I think it also said 5 days, and it was available 6/12.

I redeemed mine for Hilton and will consider it an unexpected bonus if they actually show up.

It told me that it would take 45 days.

Family members all cashed out on the same day 6/7. One got United miles credited on 6/12, and the 2 others got "FAILED" message for United miles redemption (no reason given). United miles were the only redemption option and both had redeemed successfully previously so the MP # is correct. Contacted customer service, of course no response. So the data points for us are:

United miles - mixed results. If successful, takes 5 days, or will show FAILED.
Starbucks gc - received successfully in 5 days
Amazon gc - received successfully in 7 days (updated)

So if I had to redeem e-miles for United as my only option, I would open the E-rewards account and get the 1000 e-miles pts converted to $50 e-rewards which can be redeemed for 1000 United miles, same as e-miles, and hope for better customer service that e-miles.

I hope somebody out there gets mad enough to file a class action lawsuit against this fraud of a company.

It seems like a huge part of their business strategy revolves around the fact that they can scam thousands of people out of ten or twenty bucks worth of awards and no single individual will get pissed off enough about it to sue.

Requested mine on May 29th and it showed up on June 11 or 12 (not sure exactly which day, and I have deleted the email).

UPDATE: Got my Amazon gc today 6/14, so it took 7 days. Very glad it came!

Got my Amazon gift card yesterday. I think it was batched before the end of the end today.

Another update: The miles from the FAILED United redemption got redeposited back into the e-miles account today. Will just let it roll over into e-rewards and request the United miles from there. At least they're not lost.

Why don't you? You seem to care about it a lot more than most people.

Because the magnitude of my damages is about five bucks. I'm mad enough to rant about it on an anonymous Internet forum, but not mad enough to really do anything about it.

So I'll just sit here and derive a small amount of pleasure that this entire scam seems to be cratering for good.

You could always sue in small claims court and hope for a request to appear on "The People's Court." I would love to see one of these E-miles representatives appear on broadcast TV. :D

pointshogger Jul 1, 2018 7:19 pm

I can still log into my account and my points are still there. Still waiting for the transfer over to E-Rewards.

What makes you think they would agree to arbitration?

Because they are cheap.

But they have absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose. I suspect any small claims action would be considered frivolous.

I guess my sarcasm wasn't coming through.

No Great Loss

I used to find it easy to redeem mileage or HH point rewards but started getting error messages last year that this program or that program were invalid. I do remember way back when that I originally signed up through a particular airline. When I would communicate with their customer service, I was asked to list my programs and account numbers but it never resolved.

pointshogger Jul 10, 2018 7:41 pm

My remaining points got deducted from E-Miles but not yet deposited in E-Rewards yet.

linsj Jul 11, 2018 7:32 pm

My emiles were transferred to my e-rewards account today. Got $15.

+1 .... mine were also posted on 7-11-2018! Got $5

uxb Jul 13, 2018 4:36 pm

I still haven't received my E-miles xfer despite having my account zeroed out.

pakle Jul 13, 2018 5:30 pm

I checked my E-rewards account yesterday and they rounded up $48.45 to $50 for me and $60.7 to $70 for a relative (posted yesterday)!
I redeemed the $50 for 1000 United MP miles last night and it posted this morning! I had tried to redeem to United when it was still in E-miles but it failed and re-deposited the money back to the e-miles account, luckily. So that's why the dollars got transferred to E-rewards, and I'm pleased to see the redemption worked for E-rewards.

pointshogger Jul 15, 2018 8:04 pm

Hm... still waiting for transfer to come through... anyone else still waiting?

That's interesting some accounts haven't been transferred yet, assuming the email address and account name match on both e-miles & e-rewards. My family had 2 problem accounts with United redemptions failing on e-miles (see a couple posts above), and the points still got transferred over to E-rewards just fine a few days ago. Hopefully yours will get transferred soon.
