Friday's Stupid Question of the Week

Here's something I've been wondering about but feel too stupid to ask:

In the "info" fields for FlyerTalk participants, there is a "status" field. I assume that your Flyertalk status is based on the number of posts you;ve made. Does anyone know what the thresholds are or what they mean? I notice that Rudi, with nearly 1,000 posts is still a "member". Will he become a FlyerTalk Gold-Platnum-Premier-1K member when his posts reach 1,000? Will he earn triple kudos points? Will he get special "first posting" priority. Will his posts appear 72 hours before he writes them? And will he get special access to the Gold-Platnum-Premier-1K chat room???

(sorry, folks, it must be friday. Perhaps I'll POETS )

1'000 will mean "sudden death" because - may be - my (beloved) wife will then intervene.

I hope the software didn't think of people being so crazy to reach 1'000 and will restart at 0 ("junior member").

Matt - this is still a fledgling "frequent chat" plan. All I know is that it takes 30 posts to become a member, but I agree that there should be something special for members like Rudi - perhaps his name should scintillate in gold, just to show us that he's the ultimate super-titanium member. Having thresholds at 100, 250/500 etc would also feed the psyches of those with status/miles-frenzy.

Catman's somewhere up there too, I think.

Perhaps they could have FlyerTalk Freddies too, & give those who post most/give best advice/are most entertaining miles as a reward. I'm sure that, if the airlines read these posts, they gain a lot of valuable information too, so it seems like a good idea for them to keep us coming back!

Any ideas for other categories?

Oh - and of course, this year, we should have a special award for Rudi's round the world trip, where he braved the odds & filthy keyboards, & found a way to keep us informed wherever he was.

I just wish they would let us use HTML after 30 or 100 postings or something. It would allow us to bold and italicize stuff for extra emphasize, and most importantly, allow us to include active hyperlinks.

Maybe for Rudi's special contributions to this site we should name a special Freddie
"The Rudi" for the FlyerTalk contributor who
has given the most helpful information while
being nice and even funny.

Much like Rudi. And I say the first Rudi should go to the namesake!

I thought I read somewhere where they were
planning elite levels for FlyerTalk somewhere
down the line. It would be nice.

Have NOT paid attention to what I put on the
boards but it seems like a lot.

I think Randy should give anyone that posts 1000 times a voucher for 1000 miles as a gratitude gift for contributing to his website!

Alas, I have a ways to go but am humming along at a good rate....
