Toys for tots - Mypoints

Hi all

I just received an email (yes for 10 points!) from Mypoints regarding their Toys for Tots charity drive.

Basically you can donate 200 points (or buy a toy) for a less fortunate child.

I'd encourage everyone to at least donate the 200 points. We've gotten a lot of free points this year so we won't miss the 200.

cheers Peter

It's just a days visit to Talk City! It is also a great way to rid your self of an aggravating disabled account if you like as well, rather than just giving up. It's too bad they don't run a match program to perhaps encourage more donations.

I remember Mileageaddict saying that he had accrued 30,000 points but no longer wanted to participate in the mypoints scheme.

Perhaps this is a good way for him to offload those 30,000 points (he he)

cheers Peter

I already put in a redemption request for 25,000 Hilton HHonor points but will gladly donate the balance to this fine charity.

You can donate $$ at ClickRewards to a number of charities including Special Olympics, CARE, and I think Toys for Tots. You receive one Click Mile for every dollar donated plus whatever mileage your credit card gives you.

doc - My account is disabled and I tried to but was not able to donate any points to charity. What did you mean in your post?

Sorry for any confusion here PG. All I meant was that some/many FT's have seemingly had overwhelming difficulties with their accounts and appear to have almost given up on mypoints or maybe even have already. Of course the fewer the points one has, the easier it is to quit and the more likely one may be to toss in the towel on the mypoints program.

I was just politely raising the topic and perhaps even urging that if this is the case, a brief Email to mypoints and/or to toys for tots that you want to donate 200 pts or your remaining account balance might be a much better use of the balance- especially if it is already a "disabled" account and seemingly not ever being corrected.

The idea was/is better to use it for some good if possible rather than have pts "expire." Just a little suggestion! I did not know you could not donate from a "disabled" account. Hopefully this will help prompt them to investigate and perhaps soon restore them.

Good idea Doc

Maybe they will be more inclined to fix the problems with your account if you are trying to donate 200 points to a charity.

cheers Peter
