I don't think it is linked with status. My wife is just a member but she got 7k as well. I think the time you tweeted could be a factor as both of us tweeted just about 5 mins post the original tweet. However this is a mere speculation and it could just be a random coincidence or even a glitch!

No status with Marriott here also, we received a total of 11k points in the end over 2 x accounts. I transferred them out as quick as I could just in case they decide to claw back the error.

Just curious on what you mean by transfer them out.
If you have an SPG account you can transfer them straight over there instantly.
That's what I did, but because you can also transfer points from SPG to MR, they probably could take them back from your SPG account anyway if they wanted to.
I would say once transferred out of MR successfully and showing in SPG I would think it was rare for them to take back the points but you never know! I've transferred them out somewhere else and transfers all confirmed last night. Last time I done this route it took 2 x days to show in the new partner account.
I only got the 1000 in both of our accounts. I usually respond soon after they post the question, but didn't respond for a couple hours this time. They must have corrected it by then.
