U turn on runway?

When United Airlines used to fly 737's into HVN (New Haven, CT), they always had to do U-Turns on the runway as it is to short.
(FYI: Since then, UA, UA Express, and CO Express have all pulled out of HVN and the only carrier at New Haven is USAir Express)
