Elite qualification with miles;
Asia;
(This year) ~1700 miles per segment.
Lots of trans-Pacific segments at 4769 - 5451 miles per, but then often some short ones in the US, particularly along the East Coast.

On segments. (My partner was shocked to see I only had about 50000 miles for the year at that point)
Now I have about 90 segments on DL and about 58000 miles for an average of about 600 .
Southwestern USA

Miles, on Canadian Plus, although I could get to the first 2 tiers on segments. From Vancouver, most flights are >2000 miles, although that might be 2 segments. Even some domestic flights result in almost 4000 miles.
CP Executive Platinum, as of about Oct 1
90,000 miles
52 segments

I guess I must be the cheap one...
I will qualify for 1K with UA next month, via segments.
I live in the Midwest (Kansas).
My average segment earns the minimum of 500 miles, but actual flight miles is around 350-400.

Always miles, especially because of multiple Asian and European trips from the east coast. Average mileage segment highly variable but probably about 1750 miles.

1. None of the above, I'm CO Infinite Elite
2. Southwest USA, Arizona
3. Average length of segment 780 miles
I would have qualified by both miles and segments last year.
Unanswered question: Will my "Lifetime" status end with my demise, or by that of the program?

I live on the west coast and fly for pleasure, so my qualifing is based on miles. I have been a 1k for the last 3 years, I average 6 to 10 international trips a year.
Average miles per trip to Asia 17,000 + 17,000 Bonus miles as a 1k.
Average miles per trip to Europe 13,000 + 13,000 Bonus miles.
Average milers per trip to South America 12,000 miles + 12,000 Bonus miles.
