You betcha, Boomer. I won an auction for a ticket to London on Virgin (alas, I am not a Freeway member, but for the price I paid--caution, FlyerTalk heresy ahead--I was willing to forgo the miles). SkyAuction is run by Magical Holidays in NYC, which is well-known for Africa packages. I told them exactly which flights I wanted, and within 24 hrs they had confirmed them. Two days later I got my ticket via FedEx. A pleasure to deal with them. Most of their tix are eligible for miles. If in doubt, call or email them and they'll let you know for sure.

Caveat: make sure you know what the ticket you want would cost if you bought it directly from the airline. I have seen people pay truly astonishing prices for cheap, easily available tix. Have fun!

Thanks for the info. I have noticed people paying absurd amounts for some tickets.

I did check the price from the airline, so I know what I should bid.

Also, they indicated on their web site that if they can't get you the dates you want, they will refund your money.

Agree with above posts. I've used them for four tickets this year, all bargains (IMHO), and the only problem was when United tried not to honor what they had offered (turned out to be too much of a bargain, I suspect!). SkyAuction didn't let them off the hook, though.

p.s. Most of their flights earn...MILES!

I just looked at this page and although there did seem to be some deals to certain places, one thing that caught my eye were the very high tax and service charges.

I understand the tax on international tickets, but some of the domestic charges were crazy (around $195), especially for hotel packages here in the states. It seems to me this is where they guarantee their profit, by hiding it in those "service charges".

Yes, I agree their fees on packages are high, but if you factor that cost into the amount you decide to bid, then it doesn't make any difference in the end. I paid more in taxes and fees for my ticket than the ticket itself cost, but the total price was still a third of the price the airline would have charged, so I didn't care.
