How Long To Wait?

Looking for some "general" guideliness as to how long to wait for various types of frequent flyer miles to post to your accounts.

For instance...I know that ACTUAL flight miles post fairly rapidly, like within a few days. But, what about things like hotel stays for miles, rental car bonuses, phone line bonuses, online surveys and offers (i.e. - Silver Wings, insurance quotes, etc.)?

I've got quite a few outstanding points that I have NOT seen posted to my online accounts and am not sure when to start "punching people up" via email or a phone call.

Any input would be appreciated.

This is what I see with my account:
  • Domestic Rental car - 2 weeks
  • International Rental car - 3-4 weeks
  • Hotel stays (Domestic) - 1-2 weeks to post to the Hotel acct and 2-3 weeks to post to Airline account.
  • Hotel stays (International) - 2-3 weeks to post to the Hotel acct and 3-4 weeks to the Airline acct.
  • MCI / Sprint etc - once a month within 2-3 weeks after payment posted

This is how I see it going into my accounts for UA, Hilton etc.

Cheers Scott

My experience - partners sledom post before a month, for me 1-2 months is the norm. Also if you call the airlines about a missing credit, they will tell you that it can take upto 90 days to post, and will ask you to call 90 days after the transaction date if not posted by then.

For me, CO has been posting flight activity within 72 hours, often with 48. (Not counting weekends).

For Cars, National and Avis were within 1 month. Don't get me started on Dollar. I've waited on average 3 months, and have had to call once or twice. I'm looking elsewhere.

For Hotels, Radisson has been very quick (within 1 month). Ditto for Starpoints.

Hilton, I'm ready to write them off completely. Life is too short. The hotels I've stayed at makes a Motel 6 look like the Ritz and I'm tired of playing, "Will they or won't they" with mile eligibility.

MCI - every 9th and 22nd (or thereabouts), I've been getting my 5K.

Chase Card - faithfully every month.

CO bonus miles - within 1 month usually.

Travelocity promotion certificates - slower than death, but at least they arrive eventually.

Car rentals take the longest. But don't wait to call (if you have the time). Start calling now...hope you kept all your receipts.

Nanook,

I ALWAYS keep my receipts, like any good little traveler. ;-)))

Will get on the horn and start making some calls.

Thanks for ALL of your feedback.

Say it ain't so about Hilton! I have been funneling all My Points to HHilton Honors! I hope it won't take forever! I want to convert all my Hilton points into miles on US Air! Hope it doesn't take to long or I will be old and gray before I get to travel! Also wanted to say that, I love this message board and everyone here is great! I'm a newbie and so far my experience has been wonderful!
