Creative Use of UA, AA, Avios Miles for interasia

Those who have been following my posts know that I am flying to Asia next year. Arriving HKG, departing from DPS.

In between I want to go to PEK, NRT, REP, and HKT

What's the best way to do this? I can use UA,AA, and Avios points. It seems that this seems to be the best so far; any thoughts?

HKG-NRT on CX or JAL using Avios (10k/ea/E)
NRT-PEK[STOPOVER]-[ICN]-REP (15K/ea/E/United Mileage Plus)
REP-HKT, can't find SA or OW availability so I can purchase for $219/ea from Malaysia Air
HKT-DPS Avios (14,500 Avios)

Is there a better routing I am missing? I realize I can go NRT-PEK(stop)-HKT using United mileage plus and then get from HKT-REP on my own (seems pricey on Bangkok air right now; but can use Air Asia I think), and then go from REP-DPS using (more) Avios too but I'm not sure that is better minus the fact that I wouldn't have to have a layover in ICN. I think I can also fly right to NRT from the US and get to HKG on my way from HKT to DPS using UA/mileage plus/HKT-HKG(stop)-SIN-DPS.

Anything I'm missing here?? Thanks

If you do 2 RTs (1 TPAC and 1 Intra-Asia) with OJs and SOs on both, you should get the best use of miles on UA.

Do you have a specific order of stops you want.

The issue is I don't want to go roundtrip. I want to hop down to Bali from PEK stopping in any order in Tokyo, HKT, and REP.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry: BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.601 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/417)

"HKT-DPS Avios (14,500 Avios)"

Assuming that there is a published through-fare between HKT and DPS, AA would charge 15,000 miles for this award. There would be a $25 telephone-ticketing fee, but no surcharges. How much does BA want in surcharges (not taxes) if you redeem Avios for this route?

So if you have an RT award ticket going into HKG. Make REP, your final destination and make HKG a stop.

The book RT REP>NRT (SO)>PEK(Destination)>HKT (OJ) for 15k miles.

Take the AirAsia early morning flight from HKT to DPS for $100.

Hmm..interesting. Wasn't wanting to do HKT right before DPS necessarily, but that is a nice looking award with one SO and one OJ.

Is that using AA miles or UA miles? They allow one SO and one OJ?? And with that I may go J at 30K. Assuming you meant on OneWorld, I just checked BA.com to see what OneWorld availability looked like (to add REP onto my HKG leg instead of PEK) and I didn't find any HKG-REP on May 7th or 8th...

So what would be your plan B, 5K?

UA miles. (I don't know AA at all.) You can do two OJs and one SO on a RT award booking. I think you have to do REP via SGN or BKK.

You could also do HKT on the outbound HKG (SO)> HKT (good direct TG flight). Then buy a separate ticket to REP, and then do an RT REP>PKG (SO)>NRT (destination) > DPS

I agree that the flights are cheap enough. I intentionally used up all my BA miles before they became distance based, but Avios are great for short haul.

So it seems that those itineraries are charging at 30K each, not 15K. Isn't it 15K one way, and 30K RT anyway? Help!

1) "RT REP>NRT (SO)>PEK(Destination)>HKT (OJ) for 15k miles."

2) "HKG (SO)> HKT (good direct TG flight). Then buy a separate ticket to REP, and then do an RT REP>PKG (SO)>NRT (destination) > DPS"

What am I doing wrong, 5K?

I think I figured out the issue - you want me to book a TPAC UA award but I am using AA miles so I can't. Likely will do the original.
