I started in late July and currently have about 5700 points. Mind you these have all been free (no purchases).

cheers Peter

Well, I started in July, and with purchases and talkcity I am at 13000 today. Also have about 3,000 from purchases not yet credited. Hoping to make the 20K with free points now and an occasional good email deal.

Doc, I still am not sure about that marriott / hilton difference. Clickrewards has marriott at 1:1.5 marriot, and AA at 1:1, while mypoints is 1:1 hilton(improves to 1:1.25 going 20K to AA then to hilton), 1.5:1 marriott and 1:1.25 AA (at 20K). As I am in the mood for marriott rewards now, I wish clickrewards had a talkcity type pt accumulation thing going.

I do hope those just starting are also taking advantage of some of the other mypoints offers, there are some that will help alot to add pts and get you something in return, especially to make sure one makes it to 20K before the end of the year.

cheers.

tg

Thanks tummyg. I personally also think it is better to go for Marriott with the 1.5 to 1 Mypoints conversion, since the Hilton 1:1 is less favorable and also requires typically more points per night as well.

Also Freeride gives $20. Marriott gift certs for 1075, and $15. for 875 pts. So if you find a room for $100., it will only cost you 5375pts and you'll get Marriott reward points and stay credit as well. A great value IMHO.
