If you have that many DL miles and some United miles, why not starting with plugging in NYC-CDG in a search for award seats on both DL and United websites?

And what will you be doing while your wife's in Paris?

That's a surprise on more than one level

Anyway I agree with satz on this one, try both the United and DL sites for award travel. United will charge $25-75 for a last minute booking unless you're 1k/Platinum.

You could transfer your Amex points to Air France and fly both of you for 187.5k miles and $1,297.10 in fees. Most people on this blog would consider that a pretty poor value for your points, but if it's gotta be Paris, and gotta be that weekend, it might make sense vs. purchasing the tickets.

Where would he get the other 137.5k miles for the amex xfer?? He could xfer to DL and do biz one way and econ the other (since he'll be a bit short - 30k, if he can find low avail e/w which will be tough if not impossible this late in the game).

He could also transfer his UR to Korean and book AF through there if there's availability on AF via KE.

Thanks for all your help!

So I ended up booking Lufthansa Business for 200k United Miles and $385 in fees - not sure if this is a good deal but I figured 100k miles for business to europe didn't seem that bad
