The reason being is I have been developing a credit card relationship with Chase and I do not want to have my earnings spread out over a number of programs when I go to redeem. That being said after I have gotten the cards I am targeting CSP, Ink Bold/plus I should have enough for my trip. Then I will start over again and will target whatever cards/programs are best at that time. By focusing on a specific program it allows me to get the miles I need for my trip much faster than if I had points all over.
I understand your point, but some offers are truly time-limited. Current Citi AA in all probability is one of those. To me, at least, the ability to churn 140K AA miles in 65 days brings back some very sweet memories...

This is definitely a valid point and I wish I could jump on a deal like that, but alas I need to build up my credit some more to be sure I can get approvals.

Delta may not have the best mileage redemption, but I believe their product is the best (service, free upgrades, better planes, more planes with wifi, etc).

If point collecting/redemption is your goal, UA is probably your best bet.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you churn 140K AA miles in 65 days?

I haven't--yet--but this thread will tell you exactly how it's done. Make sure to read a few last pages.

I'm NYC based. 2 years ago I would have said Delta - their fares out of NYC tend to be the cheapest so you can rack up miles easy and the upgrades were flowing - anyway thats over so Now I would say go for status on American and churn your way into as many united miles as possible - they really have the best network. That said grab some Avios for shorthauls in the US and Asia. If you can run up 90,000 points in US Air before the merger or whatever is going to happen you can leverage the star-alliance network and use way less points (I'm thinking to Asia - via Europe- specifically) than United.

Oh and if you have 2nd tier status on any airline you can match to Turkish pretty easily and it last 2 years and you get into United lounges.
