Silverpie: A Canuck returning home for a special function? Why else Edmonton in November--must be a Convention! Oh No -- Not the West Edmonton Mall!

ADDUM to CATMAN's P-I-P itinerary:

03-Nov: overnight at the Westin LAX.

12-14 Nov: 2 overnights at the Westin LAX.

Working to renew that Starwood Gold status. And the rates were pretty good.

Now all I need is Westin Maui booking and EWR-LAX flights. (I won't pay $1000 plus for coach!)

As someone else told me...

Try flying into John Wayne airport in Anaheim...advance fares are significantly cheaper...

silverpie - I once had to take a vehicle from Vancouver to Newfoundland in November.
We drove via the Grand Canyon to avoid the prairies... (and I wanted to see the GC)

I do know some very nice men in white coats who might be willing to take you away to some nice warm place for your own protection

Actually, a US'er with very limited vacation time--taking advantage of the two-day holiday we get at (USA) Thanksgiving. The special function is actually in Toronto during the stopover (the Vanier Cup final).

As far as the Edmonton part (which will probably involve a day in Calgary via Greyhound--I have a friend in Whitefish, MT, and Calgary is halfway), the people who are oming with me on this trip *really* want to see the big mall.

Hmm, it has two copies of most stores... not much special in the way of shopping.

But it does have various amusement parks, and an indoor beach with a wave machine. Of course, you would only get this in a place where the exterior temperature is -40 (on either scale) The bus shelters have double doors, and they need them....

Another addum to my Party in paradise itinerary.

Actually, it's the POST Party recovery and celebration on the beautiful island of MAUI

11-09 to 11-12: Three nights at the Westin Maui. At least one night will be free. Using the 50-percent U-A hotel certificates (which Starwood says it STILL ACCEPTS!)

The room has what the reservation agent describe as an "ocean view." It's like the room I got the last time! Very nice to recovery from the Party in Paradise and whatever you folks have planned for me! (I'm leaving myself in your hands!)

All that's left: air ticket EWR-LAX-EWR but I can worry about this another time. I'll probably go NJDavid's route or take the flight suggestions of others.

EIGHT MONTHS TILL THE P-I-P! My Hawaiian shirt is pressed & ready!

thank you PremEx and auh20 - your email information yesterday about new availabilities of (upgraded) first classe-seats enabled me to inform UA in Frankfurt and they just now did put us forward in that earlier flight:

nov-4-99: UA 57 LAX-HNL 16:30-20:07, first, seats 2EF (a row behind you).

What remains for me is now: I will bribe UA mechanics to sabotage the reclining-seat-systems of row 1!

See you before and in Paradise!

Look out UA 57 -- the P-I-P Express!

After seeing Rudi's post and realizing soooo many FT'ers are on that flight, we changed our reservations!

We now arrive LAX around 1130am so we can greet Rudi out of LAX customs and escort him to the doors of the RCC.

Then we're sitting behind him (3EF) all the way to Paradise!

Rudi -- I presume from looking at the seat map (and your post) that either PremEx or auh20 is in 1E?

Something tells me there's one UA flight crew that will have a flight they won't EVER forget...

140 days and counting...
