Has anyone who had trouble getting the 15,000 Marriott points via the Chase credit card supplementary user bonus received them yet?
I seem to have been playing a "he said, she said" game between Marriott rewards and Chase. Both say they have sent messages to each other and they "are on it." But they still haven't posted and both said once it is figured out they will post. I guess I will see once the upcoming cycle ends if anything happens but I have a bad feeling about it. Anyone with success have any advice how to deal with these two companies?

Nope, still waiting for mine and Mr. Fink's too, depsite both Chase and Marriott say they are 'on it' and it would 'for sure post by the end of this (2weeks ago) week'. I have given up and am just waiting for the May statement to post before I start the next round of phone calls. I had wanted to use them for a stay May 1st so I lost that opportunity :(

AMEX Membership Rewards Transfer to Aeroplan
Can't seem to find any info on this - has there ever been any promotions for transferring AMEX Membership Rewards to Aeroplan i.e. get 5000 bonus points if you convert X Membership Rewards by May 31?? Thinking of transferring some over for a trip I want to take but want to maximize if I can. Thoughts?

See sig for history. But there hasn't been one in years (and don't expect it to return)

And just to follow up one more time, still no points posted after this months' closing. Another round of calls to Chase and to Marriott again this morning with the same result. Yes we are eligible for the points, yes we were on the list Chase sent over, yes Marriott got it but no, the points didn't post and we can't figure out why. And again, we will have this taken care of by the end of the week. Yeah, sure, that's what they have told me the last 4 calls. I am giving up and am going to cancel the Chase card. 15,000 lousy Marriott points per person isn't worth the more than 2 hours (with more undoubtedly to come) on the phone trying to sort this out. Big :td::td: to both Chase and Marriott.

Don't cancel too soon.

This card is on my churn list. Cancelled it about 4 months ago, so plan to wait a few more months before reapplying...
Anyway, keep in mind that the current "Special offer" of 25K cold signup of the AeroPlan Plus Gold is expiring on July 14th (as per the standard Amex product page). As you've probably noticed, something usually 'happens' when a promo expires, so I would not be surprised if Amex removed all promos for the AeroPlus cards, and went back down to the standard 20K welcome level that we've seen them offer for this card for the past 2 years, till they started the campaign last Sept 2013, to pick up the Aeroplan customer 'scraps' while CIBC and TD waged their war over Aeroplan CC-affiliation. Good luck. JJJ |
fwiw, i did pulled my credit file on Feb 27, 2014, and i had applied for two (2) AMEX cards (Platinum & Aeroplus) on Dec 25, 2013, and Jan 2, 2014, and both were R1 already. i also had a previous AMEX (Gold) that was opened on Sept 25, 2013, that was also showing R1.
so im not really sure how that works... i still go with the at least 6 month before consolidating AMEX and use everything else for the full first year, just to not raise too many yellow flags. |

pokee, saw your post above. Why did you cancel so soon? Or did you already carry the AeroPlus Gold for more than 6 months already? General rule is to not cancel any CC until it moves to a good R1 status in your credit profile, which generally requires about 6 months of card ownership (so I've been told).
Thanks for the info on the expiry date of the promo. I'll try to re-apply before then! |

One recent exception is the Amex Gold MR Rewards card...I don't think anyone saw that one coming; removing any signup benefit from a referral, and up'ing the standard/non-referral welcome points from 15K to 25K. They decided to roll it out in Sep 2013, at the same time that they introduced the current AeroPlus Gold 30K promo. So, there ya go, watch for the Gold MR Rewards promo to get right-sized too, back down to 15K! You can take that to the BANK!! :p |
I'm just hoping that the one bonus per card lifetime cap like in the US doesn't happen. That would not be nice!!! Probably would ditch Amex in that case. Along with the gold cards I'm planning on rotating the Plat cards. Most of my Aeroplan redemption are 2.5-5.0cpm so even the Aeroplat with the .8cpm cost is keeping me ahead. Will cancel the Plat in Feb as it's useless in Australia as far as lounges/FHR goes and reapply later in the year and finally get to use the lounges/FHR and PTS for a rather adventurous indo-pacific dive trip.
