Hello,
I have a few questions: 1. I have American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card that has annual fee coming up soon. I would like to switch it to American Express SimplyCash Card. WOuld that work? If not, what no-fee card do you suggest American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card switching to? I would like to keep the relationship with Amex? Apply as new

2. I am thinking about getting Amex Platinum which comes with Priority Pass+1 guest. Can I use this to enter the lounge after arrival? This is for travel with carry on only, obviously. Quote from Amex site: "For complimentary entry, simply present your Priority Pass membership card (which you will receive after you enroll) and a ticket valid for travel on that day on any airline, regardless of class of service."

3. $200 Annual Travel Credit from Amex Platinum - can I use it to book flight for a family member (or anyone, really) using any website - e.g. expedia, airline, etc.

4. I know that BMO had FYF for BMO World Elite MasterCard in the past. I could not find FYF now. How often does FYF come back and when was that last time they had it?
and the $300 is hard to use for some

5. Any personal experience with how long it takes from the application for BMO World Elite MasterCard till receiving Priority Pass membership card and passes? I do not need the passes till next year, so I can wait for FYF to come back, just want to know how much time I should leave before the intended use of the passes.

Just applied and got approved for the 50,000 offer for the RBC BA card. Odd. I have a credit watch on my credit file from a $24,000 ripoff on a CIBC card many moons ago. Makes churning a little more work as there is no such thing as instant approval.
Wonder how RBC missed that? Can you churn RBC cards? |

Wonder how RBC missed that? Can you churn RBC cards? My strategy with the banks from now on will be to downgrade, then a few months later upgrade to the best public offer. Other than the points...you don't get a credit pull. TD looks like they'll have a few options. |

Yes you can. I had a FYF RBC Avion last year, before the annual fee, I called in to downgrade to the no annual fee RBC Rewards card. three months later, called and asked about getting the Avion card again (this time the Platinum). they suggested the Infinite...so I said yes. Paid the annual fee this time, though (but i look at it as buying AA points at a discount).

Data point: I could not upgrade from a basic TD gold card last month to the GCR offer. Not concerned about a credit pull. I simply cancelled the Gold and applied for the GCR offer in the same call.
Pleasantly surprised I got my $60 back (GCR) & FYF. Only the first 15K posted even though I went over $1k first month. Might have to call. |
Does RBC allow multiples of the same card at the same time?

Wait for the next statement before you call on that missing 10K. One member of our churn team had the same thing happen to him, and they posted with the statement after he made the spend and got the first 15K.

MBNA Best Western CC 40K points instead of 20K, though GCR link still only 20K points
http://blog.rewardscanada.ca/2015/09...-menus-on.html https://apply.mbna.ca/applicationfor...8&locale=en_CA with the Aeroplan coming devaluation, AE lifetime no churn policy, IHG/Delta cards over, this year is really not good for Canadians  there's no new type of CC for 2-3? years?! Is there any US website like GCR can get bonus for apply CC? |

The US has no equivalent to GCR.
