where is everyone?
Where are you all today?
I entertained myself by reading some of the ancient threads, but couldn't find a post by the fabled sistertodd anywhere.
perhaps, rudi, with the 'how to pick up sex objects on the plane' you could also offer 'how to avoid unwanted attention on the plane'? I once sat next to a lesbian/gay couple posing as 'straight' in order to fool everyone else on a group business trip - but I had to keep fending off VERY unwanted advances in a way subtle enough not to endanger the other's job!
I'm sure your cats are very charming, Catman, (keep chatting people up) & keep those tips coming, Rudi.

Most of the flyertalk contributors are probably in the air. I'm relaxing from another wild day at work!
I think Sistertodd's waiting for the next contest to give 900 answers. As for Emmett_
Nancy, he/she's waiting for the next
reincarnation or thinking up the next obvious
series of questions to answer.
Please don't ban me from this site!!! I'm
looking for people who have tips to offer,
legitimate questions I could help with and
occassionally a little good natured humor.
SOrry if anyone's offended by my sistertood/
emmett_Nancy critique. Sometimes I feel very
catty! CATMAN

Don't worry Catman - you're definitely not offending me. I'm just entertained to be slowly working out the history of sistertodd & emmett_nancy.
Part of being a ff is knowing how to deal with other people in the cabin & online... I'm willing to listen to all advice. And, yes, you make me laugh, Catman.

Catman, you're correct. jaws43 was in the air for the 4th time this week. Hopefully less airtime next week. My brain has to be affected by the altitude. I flew standby in coach today to get home an hour earlier when I already had an upgrade for the 1 hour later flight.

Jaws43, you know you have become a true "seasoned" traveler when you forfiet a First Class seat just to get home an hour earlier!. Believe me, I can relate! As for me, I just got back from a trip from Los Angeles to Tampa that boosted me over the 100,000 mile mark on United! After being a Premier Executive for at least 8 years I am now a 1K! I know it sounds stupid but I can't help thinking that I'm going to miss being a lowly PE after being one for so many years.

Well as Catman suggested I was 'in-air' or rather 'off-air' for a couple of days, as I was trying one of the new satellite 'phones with my lap-top.
It didn't work - well that is not quite true, the 'phone worked, but my laptop died a quiet death.
How's this for being a FF, I keep a spare lap-top at home for just such emergencies.
I travelled back to Heathrow from Parsi-CDG yesterday, I had time to look in the suggestions book in the BA Club/Exec lounge - if you are ever there, check out the book - it is so funny, there are some great tales of how people have wangled upgrades, access to the lounge etc. It is so good it should be published.
My assault on the Concorde Lounge at Heathrow on Wednesday was no fun at all. They just let us all straight in. C'est la vie.
Off to Moscow on Sunday night, now that will be fun!!

Hope everyone's flying was HAPPY and SAFE
and FULL of upgrades.
Merry Flyer: B-A should put out a book of their upgrades tales with extra miles for those interested. I would buy that book.
I haven't been doing much flying the past few
weeks because the others on my job have and
I had to run the shop. THe cats liked it,
but the next months going to have me a lot
in the sky.
Will let you guys know when I take off again
for those who will be concerned. CATMAN

Merry Flyer, FYI most cellular modems do not work with Digital phone services (such as some AirFones) and can cause damage to your modem and/or computer. Most modems require a standard Analog line. In fact I am trying to search to see if anyone makes a PC Modem Card that will work with Digital service, but so far I have had no luck. If you have managed to find one please let me know as I would like to get one. Thanks.

PremEx, I was using the PCMCIA card that was provided with the Satellite 'phone. Whilst it did work it was much slower than a normal GSM modem (2,400 baud instead of 9,600).
I'm pretty annoyed it has screwed up my computer. The 'phone cost more that $3k and the modem was about $1.5k. (PremEx, I will e-mail you the details).
Hay I wonder which FF program the Sat Phone provider will sign-up with to offer miles?

I was not flying - but beeing a tennis-fan (as some of you know already) I am watching the Fed-Cup-Finals at Geneva (Saturday: live, Sunday: TV) and as the decisive double is just getting to start , my visit here is very short now.

No computer access for me over the weekend. My wife and I went to Orcas Island in the San Juans of Washington State over the weekend. No TV, no phone, no fussy baby! Two wonderful days on an island with no commercial businesses and lots of sunshine and beautiful scenery. We stayed in a cozy cabin equipped with a very private outdoor jacuzzi and breakfast delivered to your door in a big picnic basket.

Mileage Addict... that sounds like a great
weekend! As frequent flyers we need some time off away from work and computers and
other issues to get away and be alone.
That's what I'm doing in Maui. Once the business is done I plan to disappear for
several days. Only my two closest friends
know where to reach me in emergency. CATMAN
