I hoping you can suggest what would be the best way to utilize my current miles for a trip to MLE, leaving from NYC airports.
I have the following miles:
Delta - 350k - Silver Medallion Status
United - 150k -No status
Virgin - 270k- No Status
Have people found it best to book tickets to Sri Lanka and then take the 1 hr flight to MLE?
I'm sorry if this is the wrong section of the forum to post this as wasn't sure of the right one. I really appreciate all your help / thoughts!!

Are you trying to go coach or business class? How many pax?
An option is NYC-IST-MLE on TK. I just went From SFO, but just as easy NYC-PEK-SIN-MLE on UA/SQ.

When do you hope to go? Korean Air using DL SkyMiles from NYC-ICN-MLE should be bookable in the future, but you have to work around blackout dates. Also you can book LAX-CAN-MLE via China Southern using SkyMiles.
Either way, 120k per person in business, plus fees if using China Southern

Everything you need to know is here: http://milesabound.com/destination-g...getting-there/
From NYC with sky miles I'd say Korean air, china southern or Aeroflot are your best bets

I'd save the money on a booking service here, as this is a fairly simple itinerary. That money is better spent on an expertflyer subscription (or KVS if you're more fluent in travel search tools). However, if you want to do absolutely no work and/or want some creative suggestions on how to really stretch your honeymoon with stopovers/openjaws (e.g., you could use 100k United miles to fly JFK-LAX and back in business, and then 240k Delta miles to fly to Maldives from LAX and back, OR for the same # of miles you could do all of the following in business: JFK-SFO (Enjoy) + SFO-LAX-CAN (STOP)-MLE (ENJOY); MLE-CAN-LAX (Enjoy) + LAX-JFK (END)) then it makes sense. If time is of the essence (don't know when you're going on your honeymoon), then it might be worth it to use a booking service as well.
