Most likely they will be going with Citi as i could see Barclay's pulled the chairman cards so they know there time is up.

When they merged, US had a CC deal with BOA, and America West had Barclays. Barclays is the only one you can still apply for, but because of terms in the contract, US had to agree to keep existing US BOA card members actively accruing miles on US. I know, because I still have the BOA card.

So, some of it is going to depend upon the terms of the contracts with each of the airlines and financial companies.

I have 100k MR. Insterested in going to southeast asia. Would I be better off doing 100k MR to 85k US? Or saving it for potential transfer to aeroplan?

Seems like one of the Citi links stopped working this evening.

Dark clouds a-brewing.

Or happy clouds for a 75000+ mile offer when the new program is fully integrated!

Do you have US Airways elite status? You can't book partner awards online and I believe they charge a bunch of fees to non-elites.

The US program is very, very primitive. Works out quite well for elites but it's definitely not a place I'd park miles without status. United would be a better place than US if you're chasing a Star Alliance award. (Aeroplan might as well, although I know little about it other than it allows for more generous routings than some other programs.)

US offers a modest bargain (vs. most other major carriers) if you're only going as far as North Asia. That could be worthwhile, offsetting the fees and hassle of talking to a human being to book the award. But for SE Asia, I don't believe that discount vs. United exists.

The $99 companion pass is only valid in the lower 48 states and it has blackout dates. Looks like it wouldn't work for Vancouver.

I'm wondering if exploiting this benefit of the USAir credit card, now, pre-merger, would be a good idea:

Annual benefit(s):
10,000 miles count toward Dividend Miles Preferred status if reaching $25,000 annual spend (Premier World only)

Ahhh...makes sense. Possibly a decent strategy, although the timing is still probably a year or more off...

You can book to Vancouver using the companion pass. The terms state: "Companion certificates are valid for travel in the Continental U.S. or Canada with the purchase of a US Airways ticket (minimum fare purchase of $250)."

To what end? If you want status on US Air, go ahead.

If you're hoping to use the EQMs towards status on American, well, that probably won't work.

Are the 10k EQMs earned after $25k annual spend on the USAir card also RDMs?

No. They are not. I do plan to milk the eqms with hopes that the combined network will take on whatever status. I do NOT agree with the above poster stating that the eqms won't transfer to American... it just doesn't make sense if it doesn't.
