Credit Cards

I usually apply for credit cards with annual fees waived (6 months or a year) to quailfy for the sign-up bonus and the free miles or points.

I have done this with the British Airways Visa, United Visa and currently have the Delta Optima Card.

At what point am I able to re-apply for the United or British Airways card to re-qualify for the sign-up bonus and no annual fee?

Is there a specified length of time or am I permanently banned from ever being eligible for these offers again?

I don't know the answer, but my parents have done that several times with the United card - first he has the account (with two cards) for a year, then she, then he...that way both their charges go into a single mileage account.

Is anyone aware of a credit card promotion with United with a fee waived and bonus miles. Thank you.

Just received mailings from UA and AA two weeks ago wanting me to apply for their cards.
The perks are:
UA: 10,000 bonus miles, but still pay annual fee.
AA: No bonus sign up miles at all. No annual fee for six months. But, CAN EARN MILES FOR BALANCE TRANSFERS.(thru the end of the year)
Where do I sign?
Charge on UA, then transfer to AA. As good as any double mile promotion going.

I signed up for the UA offer (10,000 bonus miles & 1000 mi upgrade cert for $60 annual fee). Received 10,000 mile offer from AA ($50 annual fee) including miles on up to 10,000 in balance transfers thru 12/31/99. Not sure they will take transfers from AMEX which is where most of my charges go. Also, have 250K miles expiring on UA in 2002 and about 15K on AA expiring over the next 3 years. Not sure I want to add more as I can't see myself using all miles by then. Time to give free tickets away to family, I guess!

Mileking, yes, AA will take transfer from AIX. I transfered my balance from AIX and get the transfer bonus a little while ago. The whole process took around 7 days.

The AA mailing is a targeted offer. There is no promo code and no phone numbers. I have to fillout the form and there is a sticker I affix to it to get the 10,000 miles.

Was the AMEX transfer from an Optima card or a regular AMEX card?

MIleking: All credit card mailings represent targeted mailings, except some credit card companies are getting smarter about not publishing a toll-free number or promotion numbers in clear view.

Even if not obvious, there is a 99% certaintly that your application contains a promo code so that the handlers receiving your application can enter it once they receive it. Hence the mailer can measure their promotion response rate and ROI.

I transfered my balance from regular AMEX card to AA Visa. I think it works just as well with an Optima. The mailing that I received from AA has my name and address on the application form. Initially, Citibank didn't process my application correctly so I have to send an copy of this letter to get my bonus miles.

Does anyone still have an application for the American Airline credit card with the 10,000 mile sign up bonus?
